So husband passed his test and got his classes done. Agreed to help out the DM and drive a truck to Phoenix that Swift is going to sell. Prior to that he took the elog class. He gets the truck and finds an air leak so into the shop it goes. He gets it fixed and heads out. Runs very little but accepts everything thrown his way. First week he makes 217 net. I tell him hang tough we will be okay. So then he starts this week and the air chamber dies on the truck. Gets it fixed and still waiting to get to Phoenix. Runs what they throw at him still not much. With 30 hours left they tell him he needs to reset because the qualcom, computer and paper logs don't match (elogs). So he sits for 34. First week running solo makes. 217 net. This week has 108 gross. Not trying to complain but this is sad. Please tell me this will get better. He coud be on the couch making nothing!

That is sad but maybe this is why Swuft has a huge turnover rate,Werner did the same to me.I told them the same thing week after week,if you all love to make me sit like this then why not let me sit in the comfort of my home.

Talk to your DM... Keep all the daily macros up to date... Also how is his logs not matching up when he is working so little? They should be within 7 mins or so of each other...

welcome to swift. It should get better but this is a very common thing. Go up the chain of command and see what he can get fixed

Ok so how long has he been a truck driver? If he is a newly trained one he has to be proactive, these are lessons in the meanwhile. Didn't like that last week, well change something this week. Happens at any company of a decent size, takes a bit to learn the ropes at a company, even for experienced drivers. I am sure there is more to this story.

Answer to questions above: 1. Been out out mentors truck for 3 weeks. 2. I think the elog class messed with his hours. 3. No service failures, no late loads, no turning down loads except for one and that was because pick up was during the 34 hour reset. (Which he was told to take by dm). He really likes swift but this is frustrating him. He has sent in the macro that he is available and has called. Still sitting there and now has been there for 48+. He is watching swift trucks go by. Biggest problem is hubby is a nice guy who just wants to earn a living to feed the familly. Not asking to get Donald Trump status. Any other suggestions?

It is extremely tough starting out. Basically starting out at the bottom in a new career.

I most recently sat for over 50 hours at a truck stop in Los Angeles waiting for a load going in my home direction. It's not personal, just the way the dice roll sometimes. You would think L.A. would be brimming with freight, but when I got to the final, 3 other Swifties had been sitting waiting for the loads we got too.

Short answer, yes it will get better.

To my private message thank you. I would have messaged you back but can't. According to the person my husband just got off the phone with there is no freight moving in Texas at this time. Husband held back his giggles as he watched the fifth swift truck go by. How long can you sit at the truck stop before they require rent?
