what do you HATE about the "BIG 5" truckstops?

Pilot, Loves and Flying J are the worst!
Crappy service, Dennys, Subway....Just to name a few. I will not fuel at a Flying J since Pilot took them over because they were pretty bad before the takeover and after the takeover they went completely down the toilet.

Loves is just a cheesey convenience store with diesel pumps....They don't get my money either.

 

i agree on the loves cant stand that place the flying js at least have a bigger lot

 

I find it ironic that the only restaurants that have more healthy choices are hated on the most
...

 

Loves has the best coffee, but threadbare towels, or should I say they offer you just 1 threadbare towel.

Pilot Fly J announce over the loudspeakers (even outside) Attention Professional Drivers, Shower #X is now ready, Please Proceed to Shower #X.

OK that is annoying to the extreme!! If the driver is too dumb to look at his receipt and compare it to the monitor to find the shower number then he doesn't deserve a shower!! I don't need the muzak interrupted to let me know another driver's shower is ready. I'm considering writing to PilotFlyJ corporate about it. Again 1 threadbare towel offered.

TA/Petro, 2 towels, a floor towel and face cloth, lots of thread offered. Yes the showers are $12 bucks compared to $10 for PFJ and $9 for Loves. If you fuel exclusively at the TA and/or Petro you'll get enough points built up to qualify for the Platinum showers.

I avoid the Loves and Pilot Fly J as well because they have all the klitchy stuff I like to buy for my son lol. They are money sucks for me. Got an alligator head and stashed it in the toilet early one morning, heard screams coming from the bathroom. Currently buying the entire series of CAT earth mover noise making implements for my son, he loves them.

 

I don't watch TV and I've never even seen an episode of that show. I am going on the experiences with people I've interracted with from that region. I'm not the only one... just Google "rudest cities in the US" or something to that affect and read the results.

And the people in Phoenix aren't intentionally rude, they're just hot, or they don't speak English so well.

But south jersey is not like north jersey. We arent as rude as the north half but many people dislike our straight forwardness and mistake it for rudeness. For a while there was a movement to split the state and make south jersey the 51st. Its too bad cause alot of philly people are building and buying homes in sub divisions which used to be veggie fields.

 

It's hard to find good ol mom and pops anymore. Used to know a lot don't remember any more. And yes the good Lord gave us a sense of humor, try spreading it around some

 

went in to the Flyin J at Beloit today. Gal behind the counter had a guy come up complaining about the gas pump for his car. She resets it and he goes off on how it's not gonna work. She politely calls for the yard guy to go help him out.


I just smiled and her and told her to "say it with a smile." Her and the other gal behind the counter just smiled back and got my meaning....

"have a nice day hon..." was all she said as I walked away.....

The J's are the "preferred" fuel stop for the company. Jeez I hate those words....

 

"Platinum Showers"?? I also stay at mom & pop , more room, no rookies, better food.

 

That's a widely held misconception in my experience. People are just as obnoxious everywhere else too. I've never ventured anywhere and said to myself "wow the people are SO much nicer here than anywhere else!"
