Well, bulk loads of melons and 'taters are starting to show up. Vented vans will work for them. During April to mid- June they will be begging for trucks, if the crops are ready and the weather is good. After that, very little leaves Bikini until fruit in the fall.
I have seen rates at over 4 bucks when the season is busy, but it does not last long.. Find a reputable broker, and work with them.

    Hauling produce ain't for everybody.

When they can't get the freight out for those rates. They'll continue raping you, if you don't just say "no".

Hold on buddy it is not what they are paying It was you that hauled for that price. The only one you should be mad at is you.

Right. Rates out of Florida are coming up fast, especially south Florida.

Ignore them when they say what the load pays. Do your math, be reasonable, and TELL them what you can haul it for.
    Remember.....freight rates are a NEGOTIATION!!!
If they don't want to negotiate, they THEY are being unreasonable and aren't worth wasting your time on.

The freight going anywhere south is taking a turn. ugh. Usually my chicago to Georgia loads like Atlanta are at 1600 or - 1700. Now they have dropped to 1300-1400.
