exactly.....the fuel surcharge goes to whoever buys the fuel...100% of it....we have onwed our own truck AND drivern for owners that required us to pay for fuel (fed ex cc)...had one owner that wanted to split the f/s...told her now way...we buy the fuel we get 100% of it...

Call your bank and talk to them about a Line of Credit. It would act like a loan only if you use it and how much you owe is based on how much you need.

Think of it as a credit card on steroids. Then you can pay off the company sooner and get rid of the $1000 per week payment.

 

That "federal law" only applies to government loads.

Yeah, really. Looks to me like you need to do more reading on the matter.

The regulation is specifically aimed at DOD loads. If it had anything to do with the transportation of general freight loads in the private sector, it would have been listed under one of the regulation numbers governing the FMCSA. Not only that, but it specifically points out that the purpose of the regulation is to ensure 100% pass through of the fuel surcharge on all DOD loads.

As not being an O/O, but knowing a few, your getting screwed. I know the one O/O we have working for us is an independent, the company acts as a broker. They pay him a flat 95% of what they charge for the load. If they make $1,000 on the load, he gets $950 of it. He does operate under our SCAC authority at the railroads, but he has his own authority (DOT number, MC, insurance, etc.), IIRC on the rare occasions he pulls one of our trailers to deliver loads they don't charge him directly, but I think they hold back a little.

 

Some people make a lot of money with the company you're on with. I'm sure I know who they are. Most people don't because they lack business sense and are taken advantage of bc of it.
