Typical Tyson load. They expect you to be at the plant 10 hours prior which always doesn't work out. Then because you slept all last night you can't sleep all day.

Then the drop dead time comes and goes because you have to wait for one body part you would never think to eat. Finally midnight it comes out and night dispatch won't do anything but tell you to do your best. Remembering in the past you've been threatened with a $400 Tyson fine if you are one minute late.... Tyson only figures to the first drop. What about these 3 drops you have scheduled right behind the first one?

The fun begins. I've done it for three years. I much rather run produce.

Not to worry driver, NYC isn't so bad at night.

I learned a long time ago if there's no work to do you try to sleep.

Which is weird, because now I fall asleep in company meetings!:biggrin_2559:

Zzzzzzzz* Huh what? is it time to leave? no? Okay, Zzzzzzzz.

I must say though most Tyson plants have really stepped up their game getting stuff done at a decent time. I'm kind of a regular around the plants in Iowa, Nebraska & Kansas and I can't think of an incident where I have been waiting for hours upon end, not to say that a few can barely get a trailer more than 5 minutes befored the DDT .............Holcomb & Waterloo I'm looking right at you! If you call the number provided to Dakota Dunes an hour past your DDT they will almost always pay detention so I'm cool with getting paid to sleep. My only real grip is Tyson saying the load is done but when you show up you have to wait around for two hours sometimes just for the bills to print. I didn't realize there was a plant there in Liberal, I've been to National more times than I care to count but never Tyson.

I missed that. All I know in Kansas is Holcomb, Emporia, Olathe and Hutchinson. Liberal is National.

My carrier has an aggressive detention policy. The shippers want to get us loaded and gone, so hours waiting really isn't a problem.

Same here with the detentions, 2 free hours at the shipper or receiver then they go on the clock. Some guys gripe that they never get detention pay but they neglect to say the do not make the REQUIRED check calls to dispatch or Tyson Traffic in Dakota Dunes to alert them they are being detained. Depending on which plant I'm pulling out of and which receivers are on the load I've made an additional $300 in a week.
