I got the call at about 0415, 12 hours past due but the other dude I mentioned was still waiting. Now I'm hauling this 8300 lbs to Cheyenne.

I'm in St. Joe MO waiting on my load, only been here a few hours but the deadline dept isn't until 2200. We start getting paid detention after two hours and layover after 24 hrs on FTL they pay us $150. Anyone else haul out of St. Joe Triumph plant? I've been hauling out of St. Joe and Guymon for this same company for 9 years. Will retire with this company. Best i've worked for. I'm with seaboard transport anyone else out there in Guymon or St. Joe?

8300 lbs is great for the mpg

some of you new drivers should learn there is another time after drop dead time, dont remember what they called it but security never knew that time. drop dead time doesnt mean anything. you gotta learn what kind of stuff there is to do around the plants to pass the time. i was at almost every cargill plant since i was leased to them for several years, gotta take advantage of the free time and do something relaxing.

Drop dead time means everything. A driver is suppose to be there 10 hours prior. Many times there is a 24 hour window. Drop dead time is the end of that window where delivery was calculated from. Two hours later detention kicks in. Meat plants are always behind and working the deadline. Very few loads come out early. That's why they have a pick up window to avoid detention.
But you're right. Meat haulers work to a different tune. You make the most of your time at the plants. Instead of complaining being stuck at a shipper, it is part of the job of how things work.
Have a well stocked truck and kick back and relax. That's one reason I carried a ton of DVD's is you might be stuck in the middle of nowhere and the only channel you get is the gospel hour.
If you get hungry, cook something. I could see if someone wasn't prepared how it would be crazy.

insanity is being ill prepared more then once
