How many students were in your CDL class?

I also attended a college for my CDL.There was like 20 of us.But I had alot of fun.I could care less if I ever passed,lol.I stayed at the dorm and go home on the weekends.Had a guy in my class who was an excellent cook.He made some out of this world mexican meals.There was like 10 instructors at my college.I think with only 4 in your class you may be lucky even if only 1 instructor.Because its a 6 week course which means more backing and drive time and hopefully your instructor and you can phocus on your weaknesses.

 

I too attended a local college for mine. I took the 5 week class in February which i think kept the limit down to 4 of us. It was nice. We all piled in to one Freightshaker with our teacher. Got a lot of one on one with the teacher.

Also I was the only one that paid out of pocket for the school. The other 3 got state aid because they were on unemployment. It really sucked but on the other hand, the company im at now will reimburse me for the price of school over the course of 2 years. So there too im stuck at this company for that long if i want my 4000 back

 

My school's equipment was so bad, if we had bucket seats they would have been actual 5 gallon plastic buckets.

 

Nothing like the red neck way,lol.

 

2 in my class with a t2000 and a t600 I drove the t2000 both had 48'X102" vans we had to drive are butts off 0700-1230 then 1300-1630 then 1830-2200 everyday except sunday.

 

My class has 18 seats, according to the College website there are still 14 available. The class starts this Monday, I'm hoping that the number stays low so we can get more 1 on 1 time with the instructor.

 

I went with Sage Technical Services in Billings. We had seating for about 15-20. But it was just me and another guy, so plenty of time to ask lots of questions and pick the instructors brain. We had a total of five instructors that cycled through the various classes. Usually they have more students attending, but a oil field company has some weird contract to have some off-site training. Either way, we both got our CDLs with no issues.

 

There were 4 of us that went thru a 10 week/ 320 hour program during the first quarter of last year at a Vo-Tech in Central Florida. A little more than a year later, I am the only one still driving for a living. Isn't that about Par for the course?

 

Class # 178 North Carolina Truck Driver Training School had twenty-eight students. One flunked and one left before completing the course when his father died. This was in 1964 and the classroom was on the campus of North Carolina State in Raleigh. A former high school teacher conducted the classroom sessions. He had been safety supervisor for Virginia Trailways Bus Co. and taught the Smith System. There were three field/road instructors and a journeyman mechanic who taught preventative maintenance. The course took four weeks. I was an out-of-state student and paid $250 tuition. We had three COE and one day cab for road driving, and four day cabs for field exercises. This school was started in 1949 by John Thomas "Tom" Outlaw, and it now operates at several junior colleges.
