Again, you guys have provided some great info. How is it running line haul? I plan on getting a radio box because I know the trucks don't have any electronics in them. Some sort of luggage is needed because i will be staying in motels from time to time. Are there any other essential things that I need?

Line haul is nice because you pretty much always start work at the same time. You will probably be on the extra board until you get some seniority.

Doubles are 'easy" but very unforgiving. And the back box doesnt move around much like most people say, especially when loaded with freight.
if you've never pulled doubles before, a decent company should put you with a good trainer to show you the ropes and gives you tips.
Check your mirrors every 6-8 seconds to make sure everything is still there. I'm paranoid about that. It is very easy to have a dropped trailer, so if its dark check the fifth wheel jaw to make sure its locked around the kingpin. Take your time and do a proper pretrip.
Just starting out hooking might take some time, but thats ok, you are learning. Dont rush and dont make sudden steering corrections. If you find yourself drifting to the other lane, as long as no car is in the other lane, let it go and slowly try to bring it back.
Pulling doubles is fun, and I couldn't go back to pulling vans. Yuck.
Ive got plenty tips being a guy, just crossing the one year mark at this doubles game.
Good luck -
I was nervous my first few times but got easier, second trailer follows the first so going forward they turn easier then a 53. Hit the pin on the heavy trailer, grab a dolly back it under your kite and in less then 15 minutes your good to go

I just started with an LTL carrier last week. I did a road test, but I wasn't evaluated on hooking my triples. The guy just showed me how to do it, and what to watch out for. It took me 45 minutes to hook a set of triples, but I am finally getting it down a bit faster after getting used to it. Main thing to watch out for are the different styles of converter dollies. Good luck.
