Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to the "trucking" industry, if you can even call it that. I deliver different units (RV's, buses, trucks) from the factories to dealers. It is a lot of responsibility for the money. I had been looking at getting my class A license and was looking at USX as a potential employer. I had heard from many people that they were one of the top companies in which to be a company driver. Now that I'm reading about them, I'm really concerned. Are there any really good trucking companies out there that are worth working for?

I would appreciate any good advice.

When I left Schneider back in the nineties I was in California ( I lived in Indiana at the time ). I called my dispatcher and told him I was leaving the company and asked him to get me a load to Indianapolis so I could turn the truck in at my home terminal. After about a week of running up and down the coast I finally got a load to Cinncinatti, and was told I could drop the truck at Indy and another driver would take my load. I cleaned out the truck and turned everything in. About an hour later my brother showed up to give me a ride home. As I was leaving I stopped by the desk and told them thanks and they said I couldn't go yet because my name was randomly selected to take a drug test. I told them they should have told me when I got there and that now I no longer worked for them and didn't have to take a test. Of course I found out later that they said I refused to take a drug test and it was put on my record. It has since been removed but there was no reason to have it on there in the first place. You have to keep up with any records that may have a report about you on them. Checking at least once a year is a great idea.

 

They are okay but only if you are willing to team. USX solo drivers pick up and deliver team freight. NEVER fall for the lease purchase scam no matter where you go.
