    Carrier I work for doesn't do Tyson or National, unless its a broker load, on a back haul. We pick up our loads in Omaha and head out. Usually back in Omaha within 7 days and take a 34 and start all over again. Meat loads out, broker loads back. Plenty of miles, for the most part. Paper logs and be prepared to be "creative". Dang sure don't miss the sitting at meat plants!!!!

    if transam needs company drivers by the time i get my cdl i wouldn't mind giving them a try.. i love their trucks and trailers are good condition, i just don't like how they push the lease deal on people fresh out of school, who know nothing of the industry, then after reading so much negative stuff.

    1 of the reasons I quit Transam, besides the micro- management, was because of their trailers. Got tired of having to waste my time getting them fixed, because other drivers hadn't been taught how to pretrip a trlr or were to lazy to get them fixed themselves. Just sayin

    What if you have a truck governed at below 65mph or routed on backroads (shortest distance, but not fastest route)? Seems like the dispatchers WHO KNOW THIS can't seem to stop using Google's ETA when Google uses posted speed limits. Posted speed limits don't work if drivers are prevented from going as fast as the posted speed. My guy works for one of these trucking companies with meat contracts, and those loads are always a "HOT" priority load but dispatchers aren't so considerate when including lost driving hours while waiting.

    He recently spent 24-hrs at Tyson in AL after the load was ready, because it hadn't been stacked on the correct sized pallet for export to Mexico - entire load had to re-stacked and reloaded. Then another 8-hr wait for FDA to come inspect/stamp all pallets & paperwork. When he and three other trucks who loaded at that same plant arrived at consignee in Laredo TX for Monday a.m. delivery, all 4 loads were rejected for "bad plastic." Apparently, the pallets weren't shrink-wrapped sufficiently for the exportation and another day was lost finding a local (Laredo) cold storage location who would unload, re-wrap and reload the load. All 4-trucks had to go through this. My guy was under his load for 6-days for a 2-1/2 day trip. Luckily his dispatcher was able to get him some extra pay for the down-time with all the B.S. I hope the Alabama jerks who skimped on the shrink wrap at the shipper got docked for that costly mistake since Tyson was billed back for the extra handling on all 4 loads as well as the down-time for the drivers.

    And did I mention that he was first told by dispatch that the Laredo consignee would receive him on Saturday, anytime before 4:00pm? He got there at 1:30pm Saturday, only to find the consignee is CLOSED on weekends. Another instance of dispatchers just wanting the load to get from A to B and to h**l with everything else like getting their facts straight.:biggrin_2552:

    they finally fixed the trailer issue panhandle
    new micro managed form but every trailer picked up has a form to be filled out that
    shows it is in good condition haven't had a problem since
    my record was 5 tires in one day on 2 trailers before that
