    Frank,

Add another reason to your list of why you want your own truck.

Last Sunday at midnight I had emptied out (900 miles on the week) and sat patiently throughout Sunday and Monday turning down loads that delivered Thursday and Friday and beyond and was told that wasn't 'very smart'. So I finally accepted one of those loads that landed on Thursday thinking I'd get a great headstart on miles for the next week hopefully to average out a decent paycheck.

I had anticipated this happening again this week so only bought just enough fuel for my last load so it wouldn't kill my paycheck like it did last week. Funny thing is I'm sitting on 1/8th now, route says go to Dallas for fuel (in El Paso now)

So I emptied out here in El Paso last night (Sunday) about 2200 and have been doing the mac 30 thing (no preplans offered all day). There were several 1300 mile loads with 5 days for delivery (astonishing that every hour they were still showing up on mac 30 lol, I guess nobody wants to bite?) My anxiety made me take a different load that delivers on Thursday again so I'm stuck with an 1800 mile pathetic week again.

In Marshall, AR somewhere on US-65. Dropped my pallet load at Tyson and grabbed a pplan from Mountain Home, AR to Laredo. That's heading toward WA, right? I've been zig zagging around the back roads of the Ozarks all day.

My dm called this morning before I had a chance to call. He scans his 48 drivers' weekend messages to see if he needs to put out fires. He seemed pretty irate about the Memphis planner's message to me and asked if it would be ok with me if he brought me to Laredo to talk then on to hometime. He hinted at some sort of new driver retention program in the works...

Steve, those items were already on the list but got moved to the top right beside a new pro/con list of if and why I should continue with Swift. I work hard. I've been under a load dispatch all but 15 days of the 185 I've been solo. Those 15 were 34 resets or shop status. I will not tolerate abuse especially by a grammar school dropout. I will forthwith be very vocal every time anyone on the non-driving side perpetuates the myth all drivers are ignorant low life. Neither one of us have a job without the other. Yes, I am furious.

Effingham, IL. Snagged a nice 9k load out of Flint heading to Dexter, MO for morning. 8.9mpg right now. I messed up this morning. after received the pplan and before actual disp, topped off the tanks. was not thinking. I was going to have payroll hold this trip until thursday to get a start on the new week, but since I fueled before actuall dispatch, it would go on this weeks pay, and was not thinking. Topped off with 100 gallon when could have gotten away with just one tank topped off. Now trying to snag a short one for Wednesday morning to use the rest of the fuel. Might just have one from Neelys to fairburn for Wed, but then will have to sit there until Thursday since no hours. Have to think about this one.

Very good luck to you, Frank. Fred has done the same thing as you with the pro and con list, and the con's of staying with Swift have overwhelmed the pro's. That's why he's hoping for a firm job offer from Melton in the morning. He'll have to work a little harder because of the flatbeds, but he's looking forward to it. He's gained almost 30 lbs since he started driving and he's hoping this will be an exercise plan...lol. I'm gonna miss you guys here, but I'm sure I'll pop back in from time to time since there's almost ZERO action over on the Melton board.

Mathews, MO. Should have bitten on the Neely load going to GA. By the time that I was ready, it was gone. Sent a pplan that had a firm pu appt of 1900 in Sikeston, Cott Beverage. they are known to take forever to load. My clock started at 0700. Could not seem to get the planners to understand why I kept saying no. Finally my DM got involved and explained it to them, so got a pplan to pu morning same place and drop in London, KY. I was really hoping that this load and the last one could have been kept off this check, but what the heck, end up with jsut a little over 3700 for the week, and whn mt tomorrow, a whopping 3 hrs avail. Think that I will be sitting in London until morning
