Finally made it home at 6:00am today. Hauled 2 loads from Hartford to Newton (KS) yesterday. First one was AIC Sand and was wet. Second was 5/16" screenings. Arrived at Newton with the last load at 3pm. Load would not come off. There were 2 other drivers, O/O delivering the same. They had no problem. One issue was the area was not very level. The second and most important, the load was nose-heavy. Came the closest to becoming a member of the "Laid one down" club that you can come without completing it. The other driver was standing to the back, and suddenly hand motions down, down, down. Looked in mirror to see bed (in the air) going to right quickly. I had my hand on the lift lever, and was (thankfully) using the Johnny bar to hold the trailer brakes. I slammed the lift lever to the down position at the same time releasing trailer brakes, then put truck in gear, starting forward. The bed came down, rocking violently, hard.

Anyway long story short, had to shovel about 1/2 the load, which was 53,380 lbs (that's material weight, not gross). Finally at 4am I got it to come out. Buttoned up the trailer, worked my log book and hauled for the yard.

All the shoveling is done for FREE

Update on my truck. She lit off on Butane. There was no tank pump. The lift pump is actually mounted to the back of the fuel filter... whoda thunk it?

Have one ordered. Will be reassembling truck and trying to start it tomorrow.

Still at home, working on wrapping up two glorious days of accomplishing absolutely nothing. However, tomorrow, yardwork awaits. But after six weeks of various breakdowns and general frustration, it has felt very liberating to do as little as humanly possible while still breathing.

Hey Pete Transam, do like most other drivers do, watch TV in your sleeper... I have a little flat screen here that I never watch... cause no time and no interest... if it's not cable... :biggrin_25512: I have sooooo much to do after my 10 or 11 hr driving that I am not able to sleep more than 6 hrs per night... which is not enough... Anyway, finished my 11 hr driving shift, did my PTI, cleaned windshield, re-edited my elog, checked a few things on my trip tomorrow, had my meal (that I cooked yesterday), now gotta take a shower, no time for paperwork.... gotta sleep and wake up at 5:30... Will dlver this tomorrow, then stop at Walmart store for groceries, then go park next to next shipper for pick up on Monday... This is if WM DC doesn't ask me to take one of their store loads somewhere before my p/up on Monday.... I don't have hrs for any extra trip... And after I park tomorrow will do more cooking, make international calls, paperwork... Ohhhh.... wish I had time to be bored....

Got a TV... absolutely nothing on worth wasting time watching. Ever. Some things never change. I did get a RedBox DVD for the evening. Will get going on cooking shortly. Paperwork done for the day before I shutdown, elogs edited as necessary through the day, although I really need to spend 10 minutes entering some data from my settlement into my profit/loss spreadsheet.

I am however, PO'd. Sirius is putting mucho NFL games on "200" channels this year, which means they want more money. This really blows.

At a rest area on US30 in Ohio. Nice n' quiet. Cool. Think I'll put the screens in the windows, and do without the APU air conditioning tonight.

Update: The fuel tank is back up under the truck. We pick up the lift pump sometime around noon.

We tried 12V directly to the pump and couldn't get a peep out of it.

Gets me up to maybe 97% sure a new pump will get me rolling again.

I GUESS it's lucky I got through Friday before it died. May get a pretty nice check for this week!
