Crack City in East Bakersfield at Bruce's because they have Idle Aire. Place is a hole. When I got here there was a rig surrounded by 4 sheriff deputies and a CHP. They were doing a repo and left the driver with all his stuff stacked at the edge of the parking lot. He's from FL and has no money, no way home.

Finally got a load going to WA. Pick up a mile away at 6am going to a place near Yakima, 30 miles from Ellensburg. Only 10 days late.

Colorado's chain law kicks in in 10 days! Another reminder that winter is not far off. Sucks. Another reason to lease. They cannot force dispatch me into the teeth of a severe winter storm warning. I'll make my final decision by Monday.

I feel for the guy who lost his truck.

I'm with you on Colorado-- I'll go back someday, in an RV.

West Memphis AR. Mac30 showed an overnight load to TX but I wasn't biting that one as I know how I get doing those 500 mile overnights-- sometimes just an hour of shuteye is all I need but the time is not allotted for it.

Another Mac30 was from Memphis right back to Chicago where I came from so I snagged that. Now they're saying the load is not ready for another 24 hours so I'm trying to get it off my truck and get something else.

Used to live in Ferndale back in 2008-09 when I worked in Bellingham. Gawd I miss that place.

Van Horn, TX at The Pilot. Did my Walmart grocery load earlier today, I LIKE THOSE!

Had every intention of blowing off the rest of the day when a preplan for an 8900 lbs load sitting at the Swift terminal and dropping in Rogers, AR Friday morning showed up on the QC. Just too good to pass up.

Crack-Head GPS is trying to route me onto 400 miles of TX/OK 2-lane, no thanks! Gonna stay on the interstate to US-75 on the NE side of Dallas, jump up to I-40, then across.

If you're talking the 277/84 crom Sweetwater up through Wichita Falls, it's pretty decent road and not much in the way of traffic in that part of Texas.

    Golden, CO.

Just finished ht with my girls and checked out of the hotel this morning.
Then I headed over to TA-East to wait for a load. (Which started my 14 hour clock.)
Well, I had been sent a pplan last night after I had gone to sleep. By the time I saw it, it was taken off me.

Got another plan a bit later wanting me to be 370 miles away in about 7 hours - no interstate highways - and I didn't even have an mt yet.
    Turned it down.

Then got a message asking for help with a local delivery. A t-call going 3 miles to Safeway with a live unload at 1900.
She promised a good load after.
    So I took it.
It was a 4.5 hour unload (lumpers, and they have to count everything as it comes off), and they left the trailer so grungy I had to take it to be washed out before I could head to Miller-Coors to pick up the beer going to Joplin, MO.

By the time I got to the pickup I had 45 minutes left on my 14.
After dropping the mt and hooking to the load, scaling and re-adjusting tandems and scaling again, getting bol - I had 5 minutes left.
Just enough time to pull out to the street and stop for the night.

On the load assignment it says the receiving hours are until 1400.
No way I can make even that now (my delivery was supposed to be at 1100), so I might have to wait to deliver until the next morning.
    Oh well.
    Welcome back from home time...

Even if you are company and 'forced', you don't have to drive in conditions that you deem unsafe.
Mac22 it when you need to shut down with a best guess for delivery.

I'll chain up if I am caught unawares and have no choice.
Otherwise, if I have to chain to slug it through at 20 mph or sit for a day for it to clear - I'll sit.

I have no problem with driving a car in nearly any kind of weather, but it is a different story when I have 40-80k pounds around me on a hinge.

    I know, I'm a wimp.
But I don't consider the 'on-time' delivery of any load to be more important than my safety and the safety of those around me.

inkeper, scottied67, fr8monkey and 2 others Thank this.
