I submitted an application with Schneider, went through the phone interview, etc. Was offered a conditional spot in orientation for Sept. 4 and was told to be prepared to be gone from home for 28 days. I told them that I would have to be home on the weekend of Sept. 22 for my daughter's wedding. She said that most probaly would not be possible, but she would check into it. Also check into me starting orientation in October, but that would put me at over 90 days from truck school graduation.
She said she would check and call me back, but haven't heard from her. Left her a message, but she has not called me back. Does not sound to promising. I am kind of disappointed.
May have lost my chance with Schneider

That's trucking. Sorry.
-
Call someone else in recruiting, or, call and ask to speak with the general manager.
-
Recruiters are pretty busy. Just because she hasn't phoned back doesn't mean anything. I had the same thing with my recruiter and it wound up to be nothing. I would call again. And again. Being at your daughter's wedding is a very reasonable request. But being away during training really complicates things. She's probably trying to find a trainer that will work with you, around your schedule. Good luck!
-
Good luck....But if all else fails...There are other Trucking companies..But why did you wait so long after school to start training?
-
After driving roundtrip 130 miles a day for 6 weeks to attend school, leaving my house at 5:30 ang getting home at 5:00, my finances were running pretty thin. I had the opportunity to do one more contract job with my old job that was scheduled to take about 3-4 weeks, but wound up taking 9 weeks because of unexpected things that came up after starting the contract. But once I made the commitment, I had to see the contract through.
I made extra money because of the unexpected things, but now it looks like I may need to spend the extra money on a refresher course. -
Don't go the refresher course yet. SNI is pretty good about working around a drivers schedule. It was one thing I always liked about them. Recruiters are not the do-all, end-all. They get stuff wrong....they forget stuff. Their job is to recruit. Don't give up just yet. And best of luck to you.

Bwahahahahaha! The thread is titled "lost my chance with Schneider!" Bwahahaha! The permarecruiter and possibly biggest trucking company on earth! Bwahahahahaha!
Still not as funny as the werner trainer craps himself, and the black dog trucking with pictures threads, though
-
See, that is what is wrong with trucking today, and in the past few years! Why would ANYONE want you to stay out 28 days?
Please try to find another company more accommodating!

The longest I ever stayed out with Schneider was two weeks. Even in training I was off every other weekend. That was quite awhile ago though but I see their slick recruiting campaigns and nowadays they stress, be home as often as you wish. They say they have something for everyone.
I agree 100% with that. That's just stupid that a company would expect that from a driver. If someone wants to by choice that's one thing but to require it?
