Getting ready to head out from home. Had made it home each night so far, but wasn't until around 10pm. Made 2 loops, Lebo to Great Bend with rock, then Otis to Bartlett Elev in KC with wheat. Otis, KS is a real small town 22 mi NW of Great Bend. That's the first elevator I've been to where they load you on the scales. Was great, you watch the scales from inside and tell the guy when to stop.
Read the posts about Mitchtazz's accident, how the 4whls cut in front and so forth. Let me tell it's no better in rural America. Had a little grey-haired lady pull up to intersection, stop, look at me, roll forward a little (which got me on my brakes), looked at me again, then pulled out, right smack in front of me. Of course I downshift (skip a gear), hard on brakes, and jakes barking LOUDLY. She putted in front of me, and probably could only see my grill in her mirror. She then decided to push down on the accelerator and sped off.
Had a couple of construction trucks, one in front of me was a straight truck <24k lb type, decide to make a right turn. No turn signal, and was a last minute decision. Just slam on breaks about 50' before intersection. Then in KC on I-70 had a little black Mini-Cooper with 2 guys pass me in the left lane. I was running in the middle lane. They cut right in front of me, and slowed down. I was running with traffic, 70mph. I could see them messing with something, the driver constantly looking down, to the right at passenger, the car weaving in the lane. I kept backing off, down to about 55 mph, then suddenly, zooooom, they took off like he lit the after-burner. Oh they were from Commifornica.
So anyhow, ya' don't need to be in the big cities to be forced to deal with the D.W.H.U.A.s (that's Drive With Head Up #####). Back when I was a LEO, that was one that we wished was a real law. I could have and would have wrote enough tickets to make the Encyclopedia Britannica look like a short story...teddy_bear6506, 48Packard and Dave 1960 Thank this. -
I find this to be so sad. Anytime there is a vehicle on the side of the road, whether it be police, Hwy Patrol, tow truck, or just a vehicle, I move over, and if I can't change lanes, I get as close to the zipper as I can and slow down. The law should consider tow trucks, also.

Updated on truck.
They have most of it fixed, they just need the tech from CAT to bring the part they need. -
This type of thing happens far too often. Darn near got me the other day, but I was prepared to take out the 4-wheeler next to me.
I was on I-275 west of Cincy, about a mile from exiting on US50. Repair vehicle and a truck were on the shoulder, and I signal and start to move over. I am a good HALFWAY into the left lane, when suddenly some punk in a little black sport pick-up comes zipping around me. Now, given my position, he's having to get about halfway on the inside shoulder to get around me. Had this been my last day in this industry, I would have a good mind to just keep moving left. But I held position while this little ####### continues on his trek.
He got off at 50 as did I, and I was hoping to get along side of him, but he ended up making the light and rolled on. Little ####### punk....Eaton18 and teddy_bear6506 Thank this. -
Vista CA... takin' an 8 parked near my shipper. I had some gal decide she wanted to sneak under my trailer this morning in the middle of a double lefthand turn on the way in. Got stopped real quick - and at that point she decided her mini Cooper just wasn't going to fit.
...I'd forgotten how much fun it was to drive out here! LOL!! -
Vista?
that isn't really CA...that is actually Northern Mexico.....Moon Beam and previous Governors (and legislators) just fooled em into paying CA taxes! -
sitting at a rest area in Pennsylvania while Hammer naps...

Truck is back on the road, ordered a custom belly plate to keep stuff from hitting the bottom of the engine, sure I get extra 12 pounds, but its worth it than having the truck out of service because something tore something out.
