Yep the good ole gaser had a 74 chevy tandem axle dump 427 split shifter empty you can make it wheel hop and that baby would fly drop a load in the bed and a kid on a tricycle could out run you and I wount dare try to go up fancy gap with it it would take a week to reach the top truck would get you half way and you would have to walk the rest and if you missed a gear on a grade stop and start over. brother n law was driving it once and grabed the wrong leaver shifting good thing the gate was locked. When my daddy first got it he would hook the trailer up load that dozer pull out the yard and it seem like 15 min and you still hear him shifting gears and dont by pass a gas station you could accually see gas gauge moving

Ya, great plan. I'm sure the oil companies won't pass the extra cost onto the consumer if their "tax breaks" are eliminated (it's a deduction sort of like when you depreciate your truck) and the lack of competition with the mergers will surely lower prices.

Sometimes I think basic economics should be required in every high school in order to graduate.

Comments like yours show the level of misunderstanding in the world. Maybe accounting should be required.

These tax breaks allow them to funnel higher dollars to their corporate CEO and others.

    Greed is the issue.

As far as economics classes in high school, it was done when I was there.

My point was that if anyone thinks that CEO was going to settle for less because the corporation had to pay more taxes is most likely being naive. The company will simply pass the additional cost of the taxes on to the end user and the CEO and share holders will still have real nice stuff. Raising taxes on corporations won't lower prices.

    I also took accounting. :biggrin_25519:

Regulation of the profit taking would make a bigger impression.

When I got into the accounting, there were limits on the salaries taken. There were formulas put into place for many years that required calculations to keep from being classed as excessive.

After 1982, there were changes made that removed this from the picture. Bonus programs and higher salaries began to grow.

In the 90's we started seeing things called golden parachutes.

If we remove the tax breaks, we can start to control corporate welfare.

Explain why they even need any help with the cash flow they maintain.

As was explained to me by someone I believe it cost's more because as a by-product of the gasoline refining process; there's less diesel coming out of a barrel of crude oil than gasoline.

And the one thing that people tend to ignore or forget is that diesel fuel is no longer just the oily byproduct of producing higher fuels... It is no longer just two stages above asphalt. It is a truly specialized fuel now and costs more than gasoline because it take more work to produce it.
