There are a few,, but VERY FEW,, your best bet is to get your own trailer and authority and run the load boards for yourself.
If you can't afford to get your own trailer and authority right now,, do as I did and work for a power only company just long enough to get those.
I run less than 500 miles out, then back and make good money now and am home 2-3 times a week and home on week-ends.But I won't take cheap loads to do this and don't have to.
I haven't even looked at my load board for more than 5 months now due to running for 2 brokers who constantly call me EVEN though I'm not cheap. Most of the time the brokers give me round trip loads and an example of one is,, Wytheville, Va to Allentown Pa , unload/reload and back to Wytheville Va for $2450.00 , including my deadhead gives me $2.24 pm, now if I take another load that rate increases due to not deadheading home right away.
You can find decent used trailers for about $3500.00 and up. -
But if your just interested in signing onto a company, then it will depend on where you live, For home time, When I least to JCT,(not a lease truck), I ran around 2800 a week for around $4000, and got descent home time, Incase your interested

I should also mention that, JCT will pay for your plates, cat scales, all toll roads, alll lumper fee, truck payment, fuel and insurance is yours, If you need insurance?, they can provide, but cheaper else where, when i was still there and needed tires, I got new(not recap) drives for under $2000. at there shop, but that and services is the only thing I would do there, repairs i took else where

I do believe he is talking about John Christner Trucking (JCT). See them all around Pa when I'm on the road. Have a friend who used to run for them, liked them. Don't know much about them though.
