When you are done training, you don't always test out at the same terminal you started from. You could test out and get your truck on the other side of the country. Then they send you out and you have to request hometime wherever you need to go to pick up your stuff. Depending on how far away you are, it could take you a while to get home. Make sure you have what you need to solo for a week or two.

Understood, thanks.

Looks like I'm shipping off to Greer to be assigned a mentor. I was denied driving my own vehicle, so a 16 hour bus ride it is. I'll be there Saturday to meet with a mentor. Any mentors who want a good student who listens, and easy to get along with put a call in for a Saturday pickup. Name is Tait.

Spoke with my mentor, seems like a nice guy. Meeting with him Sunday night in Greer. So I'll have a day and a half wait at the hotel. It is what it is. Next post should be when I'm on the tractor. Talk to you all soon!

Still sitting in the hotel room. We're supposed to leave tomorrow now, so hopefully we do. Not much going on at the terminal. It's a half mile walk from the hotel, so it's not bad at all. There is a burger king inside a gas station, and a waffle house next to the hotel, but that's it. It's been a long couple days, but I guess I need to get used to it.
scottied67 Thanks this. -
It's like that sometimes. I got hit by a 4 wheeler the day before New Years Eve almost 2 years ago, truck had to go to the shop and Swift put me in a hotel for 5 days til the truck was fixed.
Sometimes you will be in a freight poor area and have to camp out in the truck for 2+ days. -
Well I've been on the road since Monday. First trip was from Greer SC to Green Bay WI. Now we're on a trip from Green Bay to San Diego. I've done all the driving thus far, and working away at the initial 50 hrs of training. By the time we reach CA we should start running as a team. My 240 hrs is going to be over quick with my mentor. He is awesome by the way. We're driving a 2012 Kenworth, which he owns. It's an awesome rig. That's about it so far I guess. I'll report more down the road.

I guess I should also mention that within an hour of starting on Monday we were in the Smokey Mountains. Great way to jump back into the drivers seat. I know it's not that challenging, but after not driving for a while it sure kept me on my toes in parts!

Had another good day drivin. Another just under 600 mile day. The days sure are long though. I hope I get used to it sooner than later. Last half of day was in Colorado, so it was scenic coming from FL. Tomorrow will finish Colorado, then to Utah so I'm expecting great views all day.
