Also we get the fuel surcharge and some up front as soon one calls in Loaded. Equals to approx. 55 percent up front and the rest within a couple hours after sending in paperwork.
Mercer doesn't play games with our money. If there is a problem with paperwork, they will call immediatley so to get you paid assap.
And they never ask or question if you want any of your reserve money.

    horsecrazychic22 Thanks this.

there are some who dont understand the mercer system, you got me, oscar and flightline who are all current contractors . we arent in the business of bull crapping.

    first,

    1) you can book loads ahead of time if you want,

    2) you dont have to book loads ahead of time if you dont want to

    3) you can book all your own loads if you want

    4) you can have your coordinator book loads for you if you want

    5) you can change the above two options on a daily basis or change it hourly if you like

    6) you coordinator basically only HELPS you find loads, they arent a dispatcher. unless you specifically give permission for the them to commit you to a load, they will only call and offer you freight. heres how it goes""" say you are in houston , they will call and say , """"you are delivering tommorrow morning and we have loads going to chicago, atlanta, new jersey, and springfield , ill paying blah blah ballah, no tarp, 40,000 pounds are you interested in any of them? if you say no, the conversation ends and they say, call you back when i have more offerings. no grudges, no bull crap .

    7) you set up parameters on your coordianators screen, such as min amount per mile to haul for, distance you are willing to deadhead, tarp or no tarp, areas you will go or not go , that way you dont get calls about loads you would never take. but you call also look for loads on your laptop and use a different set of parameters to see loads the coordinator isnt calling about

    8) if you turn down loads you dont lose your place in line, say you are at #1 position and turn down 100 loads, you stay #1. and nobody gets mad

    9) when ya go home, stay as long as you like, no sweat to anyone

    10) there is no forced dispatch of any kind, said or unsaid , you make the final decisions on all loads, unless you have given permission otherwise.

    11) mercer PAYS the fuel tax, so fuel anywhere you like and not worry about owing tax, however if you end up with a credit they take it off next years tag, but if a deficit they pay it.

    12) the fuel discount on the tch card works like this, say you buy 100 gallons of fuel at t/a and the pump price is 4.00 and the discount price is 30 cents a gallon for a price of 3.70 a gallon, the receipt would be 400.00 100 gallons times 4= 400.00 , but only 370.00 would come off your card, 100 ga x3.70 +370.00 . so if you had gotten a 1000.00 advance 1000 -370= 630

you dont wait on settlements (like mason-dixon and others) to get your fuel discounts.

    13) you dont have to carry all that equipment on your truck, like me i have the capability to 8 foot tarp , i can haul coils, but i usually dont , however if i see a 8 foot tarp load paying 3.42 a mile going 1000 miles, the 8 footers riding in the box will see daylight, when i see that 2.30 a mile coil to savannah,ga that gets me 30 miles from home the coil racks are dug out and dusted off,

you dont have to carry any of that extra equipment once you lease on, hell you can just carry 16 nylon straps if you like, it might screw you over on loads, but its your choice.

    14) after having my own authority for 14 years, this place comes as close to any as running your own deal as anywhere. flightline can also attest to that.

the money is never late, usully paid in 5 hours or less, you get a little over half upfront, nice people to deal with in louisville, and just a totally laid back place.

at mercer what you get quoted is what the truck gets, when i quote what i get, its what i get. i have no concern over what mercer gets or anyone else, all i ask about is what I get.

and ALLAN M , honestly i dont you would fit at mercer. i like putting a face with folks i talk to on the phone, i like being able to call my coordiantor when i am going to be in louisville,ky and go eat lunch with them at mercers expense. yep another mercer deal, the 2d and final day of orientation , they order in lunch and you sit and eat with your coordinator, meet face to face , talk and set up the parameters of how you want to run your truck. so you both can put a face with the voice on the phone.
