well i was on the fence to be honest. but ls is much more of the buddy buddy system and to be perfectly honest shc and others are much better at that then i am. i dont play nice with others and i have been know to run with scissors
i decided there is no way i could handle going back there. especially when i called a recruiter and was treated rather briskly. they wouldnt give me any screen captions of the board or answer any questions untill i filled out an application. heck they still send me screen captions and letters asking me to come back twice a year but they are van listings and i wanted to see flats. -
The best paying load I have ever pulled for mercer is $2.28 a mile some AC units out of NC going to Houston,tx almost a year ago now seems like mercer is hung on $2.00 a mile freight they broker out I would lease a truck on if I seen better numbers but I just don't see them and even when you talk to them they even say it
-
I know it can be done, but not sure how. Mercer would have to approve them for financial reasons. Because if you haul the load and they don't get paid they still have to pay you by law. Maybe skateboardman or flightline can give you more info on this.

i heard through the grapevine that although it is technically possible the logistics involve essentially makes sure it wont happen

Like myself and others have said before, what you see on the broker board is all the left overs that the lease trucks won't pull. They take care of us first, then pawn the leftovers off to who ever is willing to haul it. When they the recruiters I'm assuming, give you a number, they are telling you what the fleet average is. I can tell you that I exceed the fleet average. I talk to some of the guys leased on here and it blows my mind some of the freight they are willing to haul, and into known bad areas as well. But some are more about putting on miles than making money. There is no short supply of cheap freight here, and there is no short supply of good paying freight either.horsecrazychic22 and SHC Thank this.

I would not necessarily say that, but maybe makes it more of a hassell than it needs to be. I have never been in the position where it's something that I have needed to do, so I have not asked about it.

are the known bad areas the same as most general bad areas? denver, nd, sd, florida, northeast, tx?
unfortunatly i live in one of those. -
they are a big well established national company. when there is a bad disaster they often need trucks for power only to pull their trailers. rates are north of $5/mi and they pay detention the whole time if you have to sit with it. its a pretty good deal just not steady
so how can you haul a load from a load board? does the broker have to be on some approved list or soemthing? -
Yes, but northeast Texas is not to bad. West Texas on the other hand is horrible. Commiefornia has more bad days than good, the northwest sucks for rates. I don't go west for less than $3.25 a mile. And won't go to the northwest for less than $4 a mile.
BAYOU Thanks this.
