I came across this yesterday at the Pilot located in Lake Havasu Arizona. It occurred Sunday morning 9-23. All info came from store personel. An England driver exited his truck and failed to set parking brake. Truck rolled forward about 200 feet hit a curb and the tanks ruptured and ignited. The flaming fuel followed the curb downhill and all trucks were moved in time...except one truck at the end. He was in the shower and came outside with just enough time to unhook his tractor from his trailer which was engulfed in flames.

Heres the England truck. The cab melted like a candle and kind of just oozed down an embankment into the onramp drainage ditch

Here's the trailer that didn't make it

This could have been worse. The truck could have hit a number of things or people. Set your brakes!

You better believe it! I'm sure CR England told him to find his own ride home...and rightfully so in this case. Another thing I noticed is that there used to be a little makeshift tire shack just to the left of the burned out trailer that was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I guess they moved...good thing as he would have lost a few tools and some inventory in that mess.

There was the one case not long ago posted about a fuel trucker driver jumped out of a truck to open the gate with his student where they were to deliver at, the gate was down a slight incline and the truck rolled into the owner driver pinning him to the gate. Needless to say it killed him. They think he failed to set the brake.

Wonder why the student didn't reach over & at least grab the jolly bar then set brakes.
