Good luck. I just took the wet kit off my PETE. It's available if you think you want to go that route. It could ship out UPS in parts. PM me if you want. I was going to power wash it and stick it away, but maybe you could use it.

Keep your head up, I think Mercer and alot of other companies are just being really picky right now. Rates are down some, fuel is going up, and they probably don't want to put to many trucks on going into the slow season. If I were you I would sit tight until spring when hopefully we have a different president and things pick back up. It could be a whole different story then.

A little off topic. I will say my awesome luck has continued today, I got up this morning and my pickup had a 1.5 foot round puddle underneath it. instantly thinking of my striped drain plug indecent yesterday I crawl under the truck and see its coming from the transmission pan gasket. (seems fishy after having a big argument with jifi lube over the oil drain bolt they stripped. all of a sudden I have a big transmission pan gasket leak and when I dropped the pan one bolt was pretty loose) being as I have to head back out to work this evening not wanting to take a 300 mile drive to work with a leaking transmission. I got to drop the transmission pan this morning replaced the internal filter and external spin on, and a new gasket for my Allison transmission. for the tune of about 150 bucks in parts and fluids. the plus side though is i was almost due for a transmission service anyway so it wasn't a complete loss. plus i found they missed a bunch of grease fittings as well. I think i need to go back to doing all my own service work on my vehicles.

Hang in there EZ, I think Oscar may have hit the nail on the head... plus the good thing about owning your own truck is not having to pay for it and being able to go anywhere you want, right? :D

I think you have the right idea, though. If freight is slow, you'd do the same thing (sit)... at least you didn't leave your job yet, to find out the hard way, that freight rates dropped to far to make it worth your while. Though I understand that's the reason for buying the truck you did, to run lean, maybe for now, it's best to hunker down.

Plus, I agree with you, do your own service.

    Good Luck.

    thanks for the support everyone

The comment about them possibility tightening up for a little bit makes a lot of sense. At first they did not seem to have a issue with any of my experience or otr and then all of a sudden they did, they had also said that they were going to keep all my information on file and to stay at my current job and try back around December. That did not make much sense at the time as my current job is not really otr aether so how i would be in a better position to qualify then did not make much sense but if it is really load availability and politics controlling the situation then it would make a difference.

I will keep plugging away and keep looking give it a little time and see what happens

I defiantly went with the truck choice that i did to run lean. certainly glad i did not go out and buy a 150k peterbiult right now...lol. although my first bisness plan for what i originally bought the truck for went out the window as the pay system is entirely different I wrote up a new one before i started looking for flatbed work. my cost per mile still came out to right around $1.25 per mile with a repair fund truck replacement fund and everything else. some company's you call you ask about rates they say 98cents per mile loaded and empty I hang up the phone, who is going to run for that? I certainly wont, i take less of a loss with the truck sitting than it does doing that. the only thing it cost me to sit is bobtail insurance plates and 2290 comes out to a couple hundred a month.

You may want to look at Fikes Truck Line as they have trailers for lease. Most are Fontains or Great Danes. You will get 75% of gross line haul. Or, if you have good credit, you can buy a new Utility for about 25K and that comes with a five year warranty.
