I'd sugest to you that struggle with backing a spread to not waste your time applying for a driving job for a NASCAR team. When they pull into a track they have 1 shot to get it in the whole, they're allowed 1 pull up after that if your not in you have to go to the back of the line....why is this bad? because when they lined all the trucks up outside the track they put you in the order your team is in the shop......so if you mess up and up at the back of the line, your going to be parked a country mile from your garage at the track and you wont be makeing any freinds that week.
Note: when they do the one pull up you have to fold your mirrors in, so now your backing without mirrors, the trucks have to be no more then 12" appart so you park and jump out quick before you get traped in by the next truck (unless your skinny and can slide out, fat guys gotta run lol)

They're parked by points, so I find you story a little hard to believe.
-
That's what I used to do when I drove this.
Mattchu Thanks this. -
And if I am not mistaken at Bristol they are parked nose to nose, atleast they used to be.

Like most of them

Do that many of you use your dump valves? I refuse to use mine when im loaded, i've heard so many horror stories about dump valves being hard on a loaded trailer...I figure if its so tight that I need to use my dump valve loaded I try to avoid it and just find an easier place to park, i'm not afraid of the extra walk if it saves wear and tear on my trailer.

The only time I really ever use my dump valve is when I am empty and doing a u turn in a parking lot. I try not to ever use it when loaded heavy, I think its way to hard on the trailer, axles and tires.

I have been pulling a spread axle flat bed for about six months. Thanks for the advice on the pivot point. I did put in a dump valve on the rear axle, but when weighing in at 80,000 lbs it didn't seem to help. And with a Eaton Ultrashift, backing is a ##### out right. I usually find spaces where I can back or pull straight in. No use fighting the truck when all it wants to do is hop, hop, hop while backing a heavy load.
