Attention lease and owner operators for Swift. This is important information regarding the commercial vehicle markings on your truck. If you are leasing a truck from Swift, you must have "Leased To Swift Transportation" stickers on each side of your truck, no other stickers or decals allowed.
If you own your truck and have your own company name on the doors, you must remove that and put in its place "Operated By Swift Transportation".

I guess Swift is trying to clean up its image, so many trucks out there with decals and stickers plastered all over.

i would have thought Swift would have communicated this better than an internet forum post to their drivers

If you own your truck and have your own company name on the doors, you must remove that and put in its place "Operated By Swift Transportation".z

I believe this should say "leased to Swift" why would it say "operated by"?

wow they are really cracking down it seems. although i will say i have seen a few trucks that are leased that have ridiculous decals that dont look professional at all. but dont see why it has to say operated by swift transportation especially if you own the truck

I also do not understand that. We sign a contract with IEL regarding the lease, then we sign another contract that we will "lease" our truck to Swift. If an owner/op that has a LLC brings his truck to Swift, is the truck being operated by Swift, or is his truck leased on with Swift.

i think the regs say LEASED TO such and such.

but i don't think it's really an enforcement issue that many companies actually worry about. i can think of a few companies that aren't requiring such decals.

I have seen some trucks out there that have both decals on them, Owned and Operated by so and so, and leased to so and so, and some of them with Swift.

OK ... not a Swift thing per se ... Swift is just trying to make sure everyone is in compliance with FMCSA regs. Appearently an O/O got popped by a DOT inspector and Swift wants to ensure everyone is compliant.

Here's the way Swift is interpreting the regs ... if you have no company name on you truck regardless if you are leasing, buying or own outright you sticker has to say "Leased to" ... scottie will still say "leased to" even though he owns his truck; provided he has no company name on his truck.

If you have your own company name on the truck, such as Injun does, you have to have "Operated by". Again this regardless of the financial arrangements on the the truck. Also even if you are using only your given name, if prominently displayed, it is interpreted as you company name.

The o/o's on the Walmart account down here in FL have "Leased to Swift" or at least the one I saw yesterday night at the Walmart did along with his company logo on the door.

Another fine example of one person ruining it for everyone else.
