People don't care. It's kinda like when you're rolling down the interstate and have to come to a complete stop.. then three miles later there's nothing, no accident, no break down, nothing.. then as traffic flows you end up behind two cars, that have to keep a quarter mile between them and the vehicle in front of them. A car half a mile down the road hits brakes in the right hand lane to allow a car to merge and the lady in front of you dang near stops for no reason at all. That type of driving still blows my mind..

I remember once i got chew'd out by a Schneider driver because i didn't let a mini van merge into traffic. We weren't stop we were rolling at 65/70mph in the granny lane. Here comes this lady on a cell phone trying to merge, she had me beat but instead of just speeding up to match speed with the flow of traffic she slowed down to see if i was going to break speed to let her in.. I didn't, i have a mile and then some of cars stacked behind me, if i hit brakes it's just going to cause a nasty chain reaction.

She ended up running down the shoulder and passing me only to hit 75/80mph and vanish down the highway. Which to this day i still dont understand.. People try to merge onto the Interstate 10mph under the posted speed limit knowing good and well they're gonna tear down the highway anywaze.

Doesn't matter... we could argue until the cows come home or the squadies accuse us of bickering. IMO, the guy was hung up in a center lane trying to move right. Maybe it was four wheelers who wouldn't let him in, maybe it was his inexperience making him overly cautious. I doubt it was callous indifference- as most people are implying. Maybe y'all should just step back a little and give others the benefit of the doubt, and take yourselves a bit less seriously.

The current CDL books say go with the flow of traffic.

i figure it this way, if it gets you down the road, and you manage to deliver your load without upsetting someone who's 80%-95% within the law then you're an alright driver to me.. heck you can fly by me and roll a half mile down the road for all i care, as long as you're considerate enough to roll far enough off the road to keep me from stopping then you're an alright driver to me.

i think if you get in an accident with a car, instead of just stopping in the middle of the road jacking everything up, you should fake pass out and just hammer on that pedal furthest to the right and push the car off the road, then stop.. that way traffic can keep going until the fire truck comes, cause we all know they like to block one lane no matter where the crash is.

    but that's just me.

Follow the SMITH SYSTEM and live a less Stressfull life, I drove local and line based out of Chicago area for quite a few years, a little company called Rudolf Express, anybody remember them?..... Anyways, I doubt those fools can ever change. They didn't get that stupid in one day. And yes I'm the one who's allways in the center lane, avoiding the oncomming and exiting traffic, very seldem going over the speed limit, since I have never had a speeding ticket or moving violation ever.... Be carefull though, when you direct your anger and stress at me, because it shows your weakness, and when I was a young man I was the type that would exploit that for my own perverted pleasure. I was the one who would wave and smile, when you shake your fist. When you yell, rant, and rave on the cb, I was the one offering free hugs.. is that perverted or what.... Kill em with kindness, if that doesn't work, drop the last part....

less stress for you because you dont care how you impede traffic

i see 4wheelers all day long, completely oblivious to how their driving affects the road

putting yourself in a bubble and not giving a flying fig over others is no way to conduct yourself in a public highway system or as a professional driver

if you remember one of the lessons of the smith system is he compared the highway to a stream, i liked that analogy, it flows and when you go too fast or too slow you break the flow and this causes all types of repercussions

    not that you care

    enjoy your bliss

The Smith System works well, but it works better if you don't convince the entire trucking world of Chicago that you deserve a future in the 9th circle of Hades by disrupting traffic flow in the center lane. If you're going slower than the flow of traffic, do your Smith System in the right lane.

NutDriver already said it, he doesn't care about anyone, he's gonna ride that center lane because it makes him feel safe..

Well it occurs to me that some folks are truck drivers, and some folks are pretending to be truck drivers. One can be very safe following the Smith System from the right lane. Sure beats getting in a rear-end accident.
