Do you get any choice as to what you will drive for your first truck? Or are they just randomly assigned?

I think it depends where you test out. My first truck was the only one available so I had no choice. I did have a choice with some of the others. It really depends on what they have available. Sometimes your choice is picking the least crappy truck available at that particular terminal.

As for getting another truck quickly, that really wasn't the case. I only grossed about $1000 total for those three weeks. That's for all three weeks combined. I spent more time in hotels and sitting around than I did driving.

Can't speak for the company guys ... I came to Swift from another company for Swift's leasing program. Leasing, you chose your truck from any available anywhere in Swift.

Ah I see that makes sense. Wow well that doesn't sound like a great situation then. Well hopefully the trucks are working for you now!

LOL....My first truck was a recovery, the driver abandoned it in Monroe LA. They put me on a Bus from Dallas to get it and a load and bring it back to Dallas. I was in that truck for that trip only. When the DM looked at me nodding her head asking me if I wanted that truck, I told her not only no but hell no. Driver had pissed all over it, ripped the AM/FM out of the dash and left part of the dash in the passenger seat, snapped the CB antennas, slung cold cuts all over the mattress, and used the floors for his ashtray, must have been a cartons worth of cig buts all over the floor.

I waited a couple of days then got one that I kept 6 months before getting my next one that I had over 2 years. Funny, never had a problem with that 2 year truck, it only saw the shop for B service.

Gary, IN... Shop here is kinda anal... I asked if I could borrow the air chuck to because one of my steers was about 5 psi low... He said no because drivers aren't allowed to put air in their tires. They could blow up... Then explained the process for putting the truck through the quick lane, because something was obviously wrong with said tire... This for an air line that is set at 110 psi....

Mt. Vernon, TX. What a real cluster at the shipper this morning. At least 7 other Swift trucks, del and pu and no room to speak of. Walked into shippers office and on his desk, 4 BOL, all trailers that were ready to go on Friday with this one having a early del for this morning. Would have been gr8. Yay Plus 1 and CSR and planners. Did mac 30, and 3 offers, all overnighters. PU 2200, 500 miles and del 0900, and 1, 2145 and del 0700. ot touching any. Hate the overnights when knowing that will have to take a break again and will lose the day.

Theodore AL (west of Mobile). Stopped early as I only had 855 miles to go and 2 full days to do it in. Trying to rest up as much as possible as I'm definitely getting sicker and yersterday's 11 1/2 hour day didn't exactly help.

For those of you who love the Sound of Music you will recognize this as the song/flower Captain von Trapp sang to the children.
