You keep thinking those statistics arent real world. It WILL bite you in the backside one day.

 

You seem to like changing other people's words to suit your viewpoint. The text you quoted says "very seldem going over", yet you turn that into "never exceeding".

 

Looks like we have a case of thread rage on here.

 

Not my fault; I may be in the centre lane, but I am doing at least the speed limit.

Sorry, was up in Canada for a few days, then burn'd all the way home. Didn't have time to get on and keep up with the thread.

I find it interesting how I'm a dangerous driver for not obeying a law, but they're a safe driver for not obeying the lay, seems like a dual standard if ya ask me.

You must remember when it comes down to those numbers they're pretty bias and not in the favor of the class8 vehicle. How many of those accidents were cause'd because a car squeezed in that buffer a truck driver left for his safety, and then jam'd on brakes to try and make the exit, but instead got spun around in the road.

I've only been in once accident since i've been driving commercial, and i wasn't speeding, and i wasn't following too close. Two cars cut me off to try and make the exit ramp while i was in the right lane pulling a grade at 35mph. The first car made it but couldn't get onto the exit ramp because of the traffic that was already on the ramp, the second car cut in front of me not knowing the first car was still on the side of my truck. It was still sideways when it hit brakes to keep from slamming into the first car, and i end'd up pushing it down the lane sideways. So speed and following distance is really pointless when people are going to do what they do anywaze.. I just make sure it's not my fault.

I can't explain the whole braking deal, all i know is that it doesn't matter about space, what matter is who has the most traction, and better hardware. I know everyone has noticed that bobtails don't stop on dimes, and i'm sure they don't way nearly as much as a fully loaded truck. And i've seen plenty of cars rear end semi's in the rain.

 

I hope I never share a lane or road anywhere near you ... ever.

 

what i meant is that the amount of space you have between you and the vehicle infront of you isn't the biggest factor when it comes to safely stopping and or not running into someone. (hence why i added the other statements to my post).

 

All the traction and hardware in the world means little if you don't have enough space between your vehicle, especially at highway speeds.
