I use to use my Thunderbolt smartphone. But, beside it's other issues I was use to, it started overheating and shutting down when I tried to talk to my wife. The blue tooth wouldn't work when sitting in the charging cradle, and it took a battery pull reboot to get it working again. The last time I tried to do a reboot, it just flashes HTC---HTC----HTC. So, I am doing things the old fashion way...free wifi when I can find it, and payphones. I have insurance on it, but it's a $100 deductible, and any replacement phones ship to the house.

I wish I'da recognized you earlier...I wish you the best with your new company.. I hope you're experience is better than mine was. But the technology for finding and booking freight has progressed a lot since I was there.

Cliff notes?

With the qualcomm system going down Friday night, I had to pull into a New Jersey rest area about 11pm and call dispatch to get info on a 1200 mile load assignment I accepted earlier in the day. I was told over the phone the pickup time was by midnight that night, deliver by 6 am Monday. I had to get out of there and go pick it up right away. The rest area had angled spaces that were very narrow, and there was a car hauler to the right who had all of his driver's side tires in my space. Naturally I steered as far left as I could in order to pull out and go, but forgot about the truck to my right. I never noticed or heard the mirror of the guy to my left which apparently skidded along the side of my trailer and getting broken. I was pulling a loud reefer, and couldn't hear much of anything. I got no farther than the exit out of the rest area before the law caught up with me. I explained myself, and haven't gotten a ticket (yet).
Of course, when the q-comm system came back online and I was able to get the real load assignment info, it says I had until midnight Saturday night to pick up and could deliver anytime Monday. Now I have to deal with another accident. I'm already on the S-list for scratching somebody's paint (in New Jersey) and curbing tires in one of those stupid, narrow, busted up New Jersey U-turn lanes. No rim damage, just blown out sidewalls. I'm still running, so I haven't been fired (yet).Last edited: Oct 21, 2012

Anyone else having problems since the update getting your info? I get preplan and I accept but get no info or just load assignment and no fuel or route.

I spoke to a driver while waiting for the hook Saturday. He had spoken to his AM who was called in because the supposed 6 hour update took 16 hours, and it was still screwed up. His load was McCook, NE to Louisville, KY. His routing lead him to Cali, his fuel solution had him fueling in Colorado.
Like I have always said, the more that High Command tries to update and improve, the more they screw up. They need to give up, reformat, and start with a clean slate. And NOT hire Nebraska graduates to program the system. -
Wow, supersnack, You got all kinds of bad luck lately, haing in there, and hope for a freight shaker someday.

Same happened to me. Had to send a message in to get a fuel stop. Then they gave me one off route, not where I had requested.

Got to see a Sunflower trailer being pulled down I80 today. Old school.
