Alot of 500 to 800 mile trips....but yes you can make a decent living pullin from them. Most are in the 1.50 a mile range but the good payin ones are out there. If your interested i know a independent dispatcher whos has hookups, he charges 50 bucks a load but no more than 350 a month for all the loads you can run. And handles all of it for you
insertnamehere, Jackbeenimble and dirttrackking55 Thank this. -
ok man i appriciate that Ill stay in touch with you when I figure out what way will be best. thanks

Also check into http://www.truckloadrate.com which has rate indices for the loads so you get a feel for what they have been averaging in the past based on previous load rates.

Does reefer have an advantage over just a dry van and how much of a hassel is keeping the trailer up? also I know people say you have to wait for hours to get unloaded is that just at grocery warehouses or every where?

Ole school trucker, RomanSGI, nawarra1 and 1 other person Thank this.

If you run a dry van, and it's 90+ out, you'll get loaded a bit quicker too.
That box becomes an oven so to speak sitting there soaking up the sun.
Best way I have found to get loaded quicker. Talk nicely with the dock workers if you can get to them. It's amazing what that does.HammerDown247, Lilbit and curtmorehouse Thank this. -
#2) Be enough to pay for truck/trailer? Refer back to spreadsheet matrix for answer..
#3) Running team "should" help with the "over-all" operating cost.
#4) East coast/west coast...Short answer is "more than likely" your going cheap to Cali; and you "might" make up the difference going back to the East!
Not trying to discourage you; however I would like to tell you the real-deal..There might be more experienced hand's come along here shortly to help you further..Ole school trucker and ‘Olhand Thank this. -
Could you share more info about the private dispacher? thanks
-
Reefer it a lot different. Then dry trailer for example dry load can wait at the dock until they found a cheap carrier but refer has a deadline to go if they cant find a carrier at the pick time shipper penalizes the broker sometime specially contracted loads so they pay you whatever you asked i live on the east cost god know how many times i have houled short loads $8 10 15 dollars a mile like pa to ny 1500 $ or ohio 2400 2600 $ would be impassible for dry one by the way you don't need private dispatch load boards enough to get you a load once you know your way around them its is matter of the knowing on what season where you should be
Ole school trucker, buddyvuk and Lilbit Thank this.
