Good grief! I NEVER had a Monday like this one! I started with the idea that I was going to get a 6000+ pound load plus a cab carried HAZ load. And all I got was the HAZ. Then after that I had planned to go to the office to turn in paperwork and get check and get inspection sticker on trailer. But dispatch (NOT Derrick) kept piling it on me. Spent an hour and a half at Panalpina.
Barely got 30 minutes for lunch.
And the topper to the whole day is after TWICE checking that my last stop (Anadarko in The Woodlands) would be open until 8PM. I get there and there is one SUV on the property which leaves as I am on the phone #####in' about no one there.
Brought the load home and rolled in 20:45.
Was told I can do the office stuff in the morning. AFTER I go back to Anadarko, AFTER I get some docs from SDV, pick up at Genesis, and deliver off Beltway 8 west and I am dang sure they'll hit me with more before I can go to the office. -
Flying J, New Milford, Pa I81 ex 219... just looked out windshild, NO POWER!!!! Dark as the Ace of Spades out there.. Happy i already got my fuel...

Back at the house--nicely done "hurricane party at local pub--only had to take a few detours to get home--sustained winds in the valley at 60--highest wind gust so far 82--lots of trees down--most out of power(pretty lucky down here in the holler)but all in all not horrible--
And as for "typical hurricane"no such thing--all can do weird stuff---BUT you cannot compare any hurricane with one that comes in on the east coast of Florida--big difference--the storm in that case never gets away from water and can keep it's strength up--thus keeping it moving..
Hope everyone is safe and hunkered down somewhere--if in the area--Just need this to settle--We really need to get up to NYC--so the Doc's can do their pre-op thing so she doesn't have to put this off! -
well i guess in 35 years running boats on the atlantic and living on the outer banks of NC I dont have all the answers to hurricanes but i have a few

we gave most of CT back when the New Yorkers moved there

Binghamton, NY TA. Seems power has been restored along the I-81 corridor in PA - at least when I rolled through. I have full tanks anyway, so not worried about fuel for a while.

Today's best "want to reach through the phone and slap somebody" was, went to a pickup with the original paperwork I picked up at SDV. Airline wanted 40 more dollars. So informed dispatch.
Get a call while doing my hour plus wait at Panalpina and told I can pick it up any time.
Get there a bit later and airline still wants 40. Dispatch says check was delivered to airline.
A bit later am told check is at SDV. DOH!
