When I was at Service Transport from 2000 - 2003, I had a few co-workers go to Mission because they took over the local / regional loads we had prior. They are basically the JB Hunt of the tanker community. Got it?

I've been in water hauling for over a year now, been with the same company and worked in 4 states, tx,ok,ar,ks. After reading these posts about south and west Texas and the difficulty of unexperienced or new drivers finding an oilfield job I can definitely recommend Nort west Oklahoma or southern Kansas. I know this is a TX oilfield thread but some are looking to relocate and housing ect. I know starting pay for many companies there is $18-$19 an hour and work all the hours you want. Alva, ok or dodge city, ks are two good places to look into.

On a different note I'm trying to get into crude hauling on the Barnett shale. If anyone has any info they could give me on this it would be appreciated.

    Thanks Ben,

I took a job with a company that pays commission on crude hauled. They are willing to train me. So I am a go with them this week. Just waiting on my background check and drug test results. I am told I should be able to make $300.00 per day, (which includes the nightshift differencial).

Now a question for those water haulers, (brakish water I think the called it)....I was told these drivers really make big bucks. Is that true? My new landlord said these guys are make 125 to 150K/year. Is he misinformed? If this is true, where do I sign up!

Also, is this part of the hauling that is done once the wells are pumping? I want a job that will be there through both boom and bust times.

    Thx

I think he's misinformed. I don't know of any vacuum truck drivers making 6 figures in Texas (unless they're an O/O). Produced water is hauled from wells once they're in production. Brine water is hauled to drilling rigs and active wells for various purposes. They all slow down occasionally based on time of year and other factors.

6 figures hauling anything in Texas would be welcome.
The salt water hauled to drilling rigs is usually 10lb and above salt water but it is the same salt water you get from a producing well. Not sure why the word brine is ever used.

Are you implying that produced water and brine water are the same thing??

A buddy of mine was stopped at the scale on I20 between the Penwell exit and Odessa. Those of you who think that scale is not in use (like myself) beware.

While receiving his DOT enema, my friend was informed that the oil field HOS rules changed last month. Evidently vacuum and transport drivers are no longer allowed to log "off duty" while on standby. Standby hours must be logged as "on duty". According to officer friendly these rules don't apply to kill truck drivers and some others who spend the majority of their day on standby.

Has anyone else heard about these new changes to HOS?

Nobody in Tx or Ok is earning 100K period! I ve pulled crude in Tx and I am currently in Ok hauling crude. The per day MAX is 190 to 250 maybe. I was promised in both Tx and Ok before I left my job in ND that I will be earning 300 to 400 per day hauling crude. BS! Anyone who claims that is a liar! Do not believe a word of it. Trust me the story will change once you are down here and pulling oil for them. Only people making money in Tx and Ok are O/O's. Thats it.... If you want to make ND money you got to go to ND. I was taking home 2500 to 3300 per week every wk. Thats a 400 per day avg. Sometimes you make 600 sometimes 350. But never under 350 per day. I am leaving and going back up to ND.... Hope this sheds some light on what the money is really like in these places. ND isnt too bad. There is no life to have but you make an insane amount of cash and save it, and the companies there give you alot of home time, any time you want it pretty much. P.S. Find a job with housing. Trust me on that... It was 6 degrees when I left ND a week ago. People die sleeping in their cars here in Winter. Its really rough, but the end result is worth it. . Good luck
