I run regional (home weekends), the local guys at my company work m-f and are home by noon most days, granted they start they day at 3 or 4 am but still, they average about 3 stops a day, drive less than 40 miles and they take home after taxes 1200 on a slow week. I ran local a few times and I would much rather do local than regional, Im just a rookie so Im waiting for some time to bid on a local route. Trust me, only getting 10 hours off or not, sleeping in your bed, taking a shower in your house beats the truckstop routine ANY day of the week

Well both of those local gigs sound perfect. Wish I had those opportunities where I'm at.

I wish the entire trucking industry could model itself after LTL instead of sending their hardest working drivers out for weeks at a time. How much does OTR make for having to wait on trailers/download? -
I believe that one of the hardest things for me to do, when I was local P & D, was to sit and wait. Sure, I was paid by the hour. But I also knew how much work there was to be done. And if everyone did not pull their share, it just made it that much tougher on everybody else. Now I didn't spend a LOT of time sitting on my butt waiting, but when I did, it irritated the heck out of me.
lexmark Thanks this. -
Sitting does suck! Especially on a friday afternoon like yesterday when i sat from 11:35 am to 1:50pm then ran my Butt off to make the pickups that should have been given to me earlier! -
I have been driving local for the last 3 years I love it.
