Uh catrucker916 it depends on the produce. Central and Southren Calif has 4 growing seasons, yes I posted 4 growing seasons. Calif. grows approx. a third of certain types of produce YEARROUND. Each type of produce has a season that it grows best in and this affects the need for reefers. One nice thing about Reefers is a driver can haul eitheir dry or temp controlled loads and has a better chance of getting a load, especially if they have hazmat.

Don't take this the wrong way, but a map will provide some valuable insight.

I can't speak for SD since we don't go there, other than the fact that anyplace you go is 300 mi from anywhere else. You may notice that DE is right on the edge of four other states where trucks will come from to load. Those would be counted as available trucks in the other states for the purposes of that chart.

How many of you guys running solo out of California back east now days? Brokers/shippers requesting teams now days on these loads. Use to run them solo back in 90's but those days of 2 comic books are over, penalties are to severe now.

Perhaps, but I don't think so since MD, PA, NJ, etc. didn't show that kind of ratio from their neighboring states. I think that 40:1 data was a fluke. Otherwise the rates would've been a heck of a lot better than a buck fifty for frozen loads. MD is usually around 4:1, not 40:1 so who knows.

Seems crazy! I hope nobody takes it! Let the product sit and rot. Serves them right for offering such a low rate! Sad thing is, some bottom feeder will take it.
