I know that not wearing the seat belt is a ticket that will show up on your or your company's CSA. Depending on company policy that could have you looking for a new job. As said before, the odds of dieing when not belted in are significantly higher than when wearing the belt. Ultimately, the choice is yours and the consequences range from monetary to your life. Probably the worst would be being a parapalegic due to no belt. Dad bought and installed belts for a new 63 Mercury and made both kids wear them. Don't even think about NOT wearing one.

The cabs a big place. A hard enough hit could send you into the passenger seat. It's near impossible to guide the vehicle to a stop from the passenger seat thus turning a survivable wreck into a fatality. For me not wearing a seat belt is like riding without a helmet, it's just kind of weird vulnerable feeling. As for the helmet, the human body is more than strong enough to hit the ground really hard and get up running however the head isn't. It all comes down to personal choice and I have made my decision.

The chances of being thrown around or out of the truck completely are substantially higher than ever being trapped inside. Wearing your seatbelt and getting into a wreck could really lessen any injuries. Though I don't use the sleeper safety net it also could substantially reduce any injuries during an accident. I have mostly team driven and am currently running team and constantly ponder using the sleeper safety net. Guess overall its just laziness of strapping in but I really should consider using it while in the sleeper.

I guess what scares me the most is being burnt alive. I guess it just weighs easier on my mind knowing that I'm not strapped in. I sit low enough that I don't have to necessarily worry about tickets cause I can't be seen by others. And my company policy? I am the company, so won't have to worry about getting fired for it.

Oh and my 359 just has a lap belt from the factory, so awful hard to see if it's being worn as well.

i never wore mine until my wife got a ticket for driving me around without passenger belted
I wouldnt dare risk another lecture from her how it is only ticket she has in 42 yearsAutocar Thanks this. -
You've made your decision and for your reasons. While I may not agree with your choice, you are free to do what you please. The only time this would be a marginal choice would be if you were injured bad enough to require long term care if/after your insurance runs out; then I have a problem with paying for your choice. Proving that not wearing a seat belt was the cause of those injuries would probably be difficult. Choices have consequences; long term, short term, known and unknown.

How about not running into sheet therefore making wearing one a non issue..Never have I wreaked in 16 years of driving ..If you dont crash you dont need it
-
Agree 100% with not running into sheet as #1. Of course, they don't call them "accidents" because you intend them to happen and sometimes sheet happens when least expected normally not allowing time to find and buckle the belt. I call a seat belt a free insurance policy, in case of accident.

I was unaware that traffic fatalities were actually suicides. Learn something new everyday.
