This is true. Usually it's a produce or meat truck that is an outside carrier. Almost every grocery truck i have ever seen was delivered by a Walmart driver.

In reference to employees griping all the time, I think that is everywhere in entry level jobs. It seems nobody wants to work anymore, only get paid. You agree to un-load trucks for $7 a hour, they give you a job, then you start griping about low wages????? Most jobs pay what they are worth, meaning if you can't find anybody to do them, you aren't paying enough. As long as you have line waiting to go to work, why should you raise the starting salary??? That is business 101!.........I agree with your conclusion from what I've seen also; if you want an OTR job, they are the place to go.
The grocery dist. centers all have contractors to pull the reefers. At New Albany, MS it is Swift, Clarksville, AR, it is Great Wide, to name two. There are a few company drivers at the Grocery DCs, but mostly contract carriers. Company trucks pull some "dry grocery" loads, but most grocery loads are pulled by the contract carriers. -
I worked for Wally-world for 9 years, mostly in the Garden center, but was grocery receiver for 9 months ( I transfered to another store)
I can't speak for the drveing division but I know the retail part...discusing your pay was a fireing offence. Not that most ppl in the retail part cared.
When asked none of the drivers would say how much they were makeing. But they did tell me that Fl was one of the hardest places to get a "new" job at, as the drivers with senority had 1st shot at them. I never saw a female driver ( but that isn't saying much as I saw mostly the same drivers) and the male drivers were mostly in their mid to late 50's. Close to retireing, which makes sense they wanted to retire to FL so took the jobs here, so that they could relocate the family before retireing.
The few times we had to unload pallets of dirt in the Garden not in receiving, the driver wouldn't help push the pallets to the front...errr back of the truck. Said they weren't suposed to.
But they all loved their jobs! IDK if that helps any.

Sam Walton was a friend of my grandfathers. When Sam's father died in Columbia, MO he was in the room next to where my son was being born. As a boy, I remember going to dinner with Sam. JCPenny, and My grandfather. I worked for Walmart in 1973 and my grandfather bought me 100 shares of company stock. I still have those shares. They have split many times. The company then was an America first company. Now, I don't shop there.
I am glad you enjoy working for them but if they do not change their business practices and stop forcing their suppliers overseas, I hope they go broke.Locke Thanks this. -

Im running dedicated Walmart with Swift, been on it for 10 months as of dec. 1st.
Our pay just changed to the guarantee pay 2200 @ .39/ mile $15 for all drops on store loads.
Before the guarantee it was .39/ mile no stop pay just $50/day layover pay if you were stopped for 24 hrs.
Dealing with Walmart is the best everyone is very nice rarely will I pass a driver that won't speak.Stand4112 Thanks this. -
Friend of mine runs Wally dedicated out of North Platte, NE. He told me he makes .37cpm & averages around 3300 miles/week. He runs for Crete Carrier, but the trucks are owned by a different comapny & his is governed at 70 instead of 63 or 65, whatever ccc is.

I talked to Crete about there dedicated Walmart and was told they only run teams on Walmart dedicated.
