You don't sound like a typical Arnold driver. I don't know how you describe .33mi as "Great pay". Are you referring to "texas tour" as a dedicated route? I can see how those drivers would be happier than the rest since they get a guaranteed minimum salary of $750 wk as long as they are available. Very handy if your truck is in the shop for 3 days.

So today I start a new adventure. Arnold was contracted by Fdex to run doubles hub to hub. And since I have the endorsement, I was offered a 3 wk deal. It meant missing my hometime but the pay is
Very good. Anybody have any good advice about pulling doubles? I talked to a couple drivers yesterday who gave me some good tips and went over everything on their truck w/ me. I start tonite. I see it as a great opportunity to get some new experience and make some good money to boot. After all, Xbox360s and Barbie dreamhouses don't buy themselves.

The test is nothing to be worried about unless u are extremely overweight and out of shape, which does not seem to be the case. They ask u to step up two steps on a ladder, using ur hands for support and balance, 3 points of contact. Then u have to do the duck walk for about 50 feet. Lastly u have to move a 50 lb box of chains from the floor to a shelf. Thats pretty much it.

Linehaul doubles is where it's at. I have made 15 trips over the Alleghenies in sun, rain, snow, sleet, high winds and freezing temps.. I pulled empties and loads up to 18K with different dollies. It's a bit more work than bumping docks, but I liked it and hope to do more in the future. I was even able to back the dolly under he kite twice without unhooking from the lead and have gained alot of repect for the folks who do this every day. Fdex has pretty decent equipment and some of their drivers were helpful. All in all, a very good experience, made some new friends, learned some new skills and made some good money. Ready to head home and see the family after almost 5 weeks on the road. Gotta remember to put the mudflaps back on tomorrow.
