What's sad is this """Witnesses described the semi as a late 90s "long-nose" Peterbilt, maroon in color, and pulling a silver trailer with damage to the right side. """"
Isn't going to stand out like a sore thumb...
If the driver knows he hit someone and ran, I hope he suffers a long painful disease, if he didn't know, which is possible(although he probably should have, we don't know enough to KNOW), I hope it works out for the driver...Very sad for that family to lose a mom and young child... -
I heard about this. Very sad. This makes the second fatality accident in less than a week right in that same area. Praying for the families.
-
My condolences to the family. I seen this almost happen in front of my very eyes. It's sad, but cars are very impatient . You let them in and other drivers won't let you back into the right lane.
-
It is a very sad occasion for this to happen to someone so young.
I know from riding with husband that cars do not play by the rules, they try to pass you in gaps on the right side and do get in the blind spots. We have had them fly up the side of the truck so fast that he had already started to move over and had to move back. I don't know if the person would have felt it hit either if it were a fast clip and then she spun out..
Prayers for all those involved. -
or they quickly speed up and run up beside a truck from an on-ramp, then slow to the truck's speed and ride in his blind spot for a bit. Or, as a truck is passing another vehicle and the instant there is a car length available, the car behind the truck rushes to the outside lane and passes on the right before the trucker has time to refresh the situation.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
I think all cars should have their drivers have to ride with a trucker for a couple of months so they can see first hand what they are doing. I always called these sneak cars "sliders" when I was on the truck, 4 eyes are better than 2 somedays. D was even trying to leave enough room for a truck to get over before some scales and a car slid in where the trucker was caught with no way to get over and missed them; dot came out after him and we stopped to let them know what had happened; he ended up not having his log up to date though so he was taken back to the scales and most likely ended up with a ticket for that.
I applaud the states which are trying to make a difference with tailgating and other things that cars tend to do including moving over in front of a truck and not leaving enough room. Other states need to follow suit. -
Well I think it's funny how not a single one of you acknowledges that trucks are just as guilty as doing stupid things. I am constantly tail gated and cut off by our fellow "professional" drivers. Most cars do stupid stuff out of ignorance. Truck drivers know exactly what they are doing.
jomar68, Scorcher21, zmpart and 6 others Thank this. -
Some similar to this happened in MN many years ago they never found the semi.
I personally was riding in a truck that rear ended a semi at red light ( it was icy but our driver was at fault ) and when the light turned green he drove away. I am sure he felt it we had a f350 crew cab dually. -
True. However, the problem is for every stupid trucker, there's 100 stupid auto drivers.volvodriver01 and dieselmama Thank this.
