Alright now! It ain't that bad! Now mind you, when I first moved there in 2001 ( I think) after 20 years in TX and OK, the driveway disappeared Nov 15, and made a reappearance sometime after the first of April. And I was sure wondering, "Lord, why did you bring me here?" But it's actually not that bad most years, and it was a good place to raise my boys. Now it seems the Lone Star calls again...the ex and youngest leave tomorrow for the Panhandle, and I'm soon to follow, I imagine.
Any if y'all pick up at John Morrell there, it's worth the walk to go south down to the falls, especially in the spring when the water is up.Last edited: Dec 25, 2012

Been to John Morrell more times than I care to remember...

There is actually a "rugged attractiveness" to the area. My grandfather was born in NW Iowa and went to college at (I believe) Univ of ND (may have been SD). Of course, then he moved to Los Angeles in 1925. But I've been through the area a few times, and really didn't mind it all that much. I mean, when it's bad enough that the locals shut it down, then you know it's time. I did, however, spend my first Christmas on the road in SF in a blizzard. 31 below zero, with a wind chill of 62 below.
City boy here was wondering WTH he was doing there..... -
In EITHER of the PAM trucks I had, had I been forced to sit in 31 below I'd have frozen to death. The Freightshaker had a flaky Opti-Idle which often would only click and not restart the truck. The Prostar had an APU that worked for about three weeks. None of the shops could fix it. THEN they took away the idle!
Rather glad I ain't doing that anymore... -
Pipestone, MN is a great place to visit. SF itself has a nice feel to it. It took me a couple of visits to figure out why - most if not all of the power lines are underground!

I'm tellin you for $20 a cat door will cure this problem
my best friend says cats are always on the wrong side of the door
his will cry and the back door to come in then march to the front to go out -
My grandma was born in 1907 in Tripp SD and she would tell us of extreme cold and blizzards there before she moved to MO. I've never been there in the winter, but in the past year I've heard plenty of stories about the winters up there.
