i have been trucking for twenty years. grew up in trucking. was running my dads trucks when i was 16. diesel mech school, did fleet maintenece. i have had it. i am too pig headed to drive for anyone else and i am tired of stressing over wether to pay the power bill or replace that tire. we are getting old enough that the lack of health insurance is becoming a major concern. could come up with 1000 reasons but in the end i love trucking, i just hate the business of trucking. another way to say it i guess is i love being able to drive truck but hate having to drive truck.richhawn, Flightline, blade and 4 others Thank this.

Good luck and thank you for the 20 years you put in. Although, any OTR driver can double his time, since we don't work the typical 2000 hours per year. You actually can claim 40 years of work in that 20.
SHC Thanks this. -
I hope it works out for ya. Maybe you can find something you can tolerate, to earn a living.
You are not alone. This industry has sure changed over the years. I too have had a case of burnout lately.
Good Luck To Ya !!!Logan76 Thanks this. -
It is out of control. $800 - $1200 a month. Then they try to weasel out of paying a claim every time you submit one.

Wow Wideload. And you just got going good with Mercer. But hey, I'm feeling about the same way. I also just put my truck up for sale. If it sells, I'm done, if not I'll keep on trucking. The health insurance and a grandson is my big reasons. Not that I need health insurance but we all are gona pay for it whether we have it or not with the new Obama plan.
volvodriver01, SHC, whoopNride and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have my own personal policy thru BC/BS and pay $118 month. I guess I must have gotten lucky, because mine is a 80/20 plan with all the crap that my old plan had. Heck, i save $200 a month on perscriptions, which means I'm getting an extra $72 for free LOLLenrod Thanks this.
