mercer doesnt have enough work to justify upgrading to a newer truck been here a few months and cant even get out of the east coast but yet they keep signing trucks on every week makes no sense
brodgers and rockyroad74 Thank this. -
nice bunch of people but man a guy could starve here
-
you must not how to pick your own loads then, who is making the decisions on which loads to take???
i have been here 2 years and do verywell.
whats your deal. if you end up in bad places, remember who made th decision to take the load that got you there. -
ummmm......i think you misunderstood what he said skateboardman. He didnt really say anything about him picking bad loads....he just said there arent really any loads for him to choose from....good or bad. Its january, freight is slow for most opendeck. its just about all unpredictable unless you have some dedicated gig. Hell the way things are right now, thats not even a 100 percent safe.....he was just stating they dont have enough work.rockyroad74 Thanks this. -
I've actually seen more loads this December than any other December in the past 10 years. Maybe you are all in the wrong areas?????
-
yeah, your prolly right SHC.i took me a little break for a few days. Setting at home is a bad area for me to get anything done that pays, other than keepin the woman happy....and all that does is cost me even more money really.lol. Hey, by the way, howd the clutch problem turn out...... you get up and goin again i hope?
SHC Thanks this. -
East coast is a big place, where exactly are you having a problem? What are you willing to haul, where will you go (and not go) and are you willing to tarp? Many drivers are particular about some or all of those things, and it limits what they can (will) accept for loads. As asked already, how are you getting loads? Are you actively seeking them yourself or just waiting for you coordinator to call? I'm sure with all the drivers that have been here many years, if there were truly no loads, we'd have been gone and forgotten by now.

eastern pennsylvania is the home 20 and if your interested in 350 dollar loads to new jersey, or junk cars from upstate new york to philadelphia that may put a hole in your deck than i guess you can call that work. like i said nice bunch of people but so far in my opinion mercers turning into a van operation because thats all i ever see in my area not much flatbed freight to haul here. maybe bad time of the year iguess i dont know but after hearing how nobody likes to go east of ohio you sre could have fooled me because the flatbed freight here that they have isnt too exciting
rockyroad74 Thanks this. -
ive talked to a few guys in my area that have to deadhead to buffalo and one that deadheads to ohio to get going thats a little extreme just to get out of the house and get going
