Paying your dues consists of getting a truck with 400k miles on it. That's it...nothing more. Not sure why so many allow themselves to be used and abused by companies like Knight. Let us know how Knight works out for you.

    Rolly Thanks this.

Gulfport terminal was half your problem. If you lived closer to Memphis or Dallas, then you would have been in the reefer division. Gulfport only has van and port services. The per diem thing I agree on. When I hired on they gave us a choice. For Texas residents that have farm land, the per diem thing really screws with their taxes. I told them I didn't want it but they put me on it anyway and at that time we a payroll person in our office. She fixed it for me and have not been on it since. I have been to a good portion of terminals from the mid west to the east and very few drivers from those individual terminals have said they don't have any problems. Gulfport has been the one I hear about the most sadly. Either way, you did some time and they didn't want to work with you so you had to do what you needed. Hope things are going better for you now.

It is what it is, No one is happy all the time with high fuel driver works twice as hard. I worked for knight for 3 years in the 1990 Ara and they treated me good, New drivers got to suck it up it is a thing called paying your dues, All the new drivers now got it made, When i started trucking in the 70:s You drove cab overs spring ride and got the hell beat out of you, It took 2 days just to recover for the week. No one should DOG your company you work for, They were good enough to hire you and put food on the table for your family, Its a tough business and you all of you are still doing it I can say we are a very tough breed .You all drive safe It will work out, You will see God Bless

Knight is the best company ever! It has a nice pay system (sliding) cough what other company out there will knight you at orientation and teach you the ways that king arthuer lived by! And then they jost you in the buthole every payday by telling you that you work for free since you are serving the kings of Camelot.

I've driven trucks with more miles. I have found it not so much the miles as the abuse the truck gets, driven trucks with 800k drove like new, drove trucks with 276k drove like junkyard escapees. Everyone's viewsa colored by their own experiences. Im simply looking at Knight as it in my back yard, literally I can see their PHX terminal from my house lol

That video cracks me up, look guys your a trucker not a beauty queen. There are certain aspects of the job with any carrier out there. If you dont accept that then this isn't the job for you. This isn't smokey and the bandit and they don't owe you any more then getting freight and covering certain expenses. If you think you deserve better, get your own authority and prove otherwise, that or quit.

Well that is def close enough! But you can't tell much about a company simply from looking outside in. I too have driven trucks with lots of miles on them that drive the same as new trucks. My current day cab is a older one and needs new shocks. I simply had the parts guy in my shop order new ones and when I go in for service again they put the new ones on. Until then I just deal with a little ruffer ride than usual.:biggrin_2556:
