Which of the major trucking companies allow an OTR truck driver the option of NOT having any per diem at all? Also, LEGALLY, what is the most per diem that a trucking company can offer in per diem to an OTR truck driver?

When I was at Swift it was never mentioned. That was 3 years ago next week. They had it. I wouldn't have taken it if they had offered.

Per Diem is a corrupt system that most of these trucking co's use to lower your starting wage they told you what they would start you at. I refused per diem with JBHunt, signed a form not to recieve it,and when checking my pay stubs, and doing some figuring, found out they were paying me the per diem rate after i had signed off it.I was told they were gonna start me at .39 cents pm.I got my pay stub and looked at the pm rate and it showed i was getting .27 cents pm plus per diem.they were useing the per diem to make up the difference to show i was making 39 cents a mile. Now remember i didnt take the per diem.I called payroll and asked them why was they giving me per diem when i had signed off it? payroll told me i had to talk to my DM,they couldnt help me.I called my DM.The DM denied paying me per diem. They told me call pay roll.I did again and finally got a hold of someone in pay roll who told me the truth.Yes they are paying you the per diem.I wont work for a company that use's the per diem to reduce what they promise to pay. This is a corrupt system that most of these trucking co's use to rip you off and take money you work your buns off for.Why should they profit from it.Im writing letters to the IRS and a few news channels and explaining what these trucking companys are doing to stop them from ripping off the drivers with this system.hopefully something might come of it.10-4

Why take per diem and give the company part of it? Trucking companys take a percentage of what is yours to begin with.you work your buns off for it.Why should they profit from it?sure its only a very little percentage, figures out to be.02 cents or more, but multiply that by how many drivers they are screwing, and it comes out with a lot of tax free money for them to pocket.thats why these companys are forcing or trying to force a driver to take per diem and saying its the best thing for you.

You gave the million dollar answer there.these trucking companys are making a profit off what is your money to begin with.and reducing what they told you they would start your pay at by useing the per diem. Now if they would pay me what they told me they were gonna pay and then add the per diem,i would go for it.But they dont and profit from your per diem.10-4

.02 cpm based on a 2500 mile week comes to $50 per week that some drivers are paying for an "administrative fee??" So $200 dollars a month OR $2400 dollars per year. It's mind boggling that people are okay with this.

When I worked for Knight, they signed me up for per diam despite me filling out a form opting out of it. They started me anyways and it took three requests to finally get off of it.

Some of these co's are not even telling you they are paying you per diem and making even more from you.i did work for a company in gerald,mo that was doing this.they wanted to know how i found out.Didnt tell them my source.:) Only way we can stop this corruopt system is every driver writes a letter to the IRS and or The government or whatever, and complain on how they are stealing this per diem and how they are getting millions in tax free money from the drivers and lowering wages.I wrote some letters to some news channels and explained how these companys are stealing the per diem.maybe something will come of it.Hope so.10-4

U take JBHunt or Swift with all the drivers they have that are doing this and multiply it.They are getting thousands possibly millions of tax free money from the per diem that is solely for the truck drivers.10-4
