It doesn't matter, because truckers generally lie about what they make anyway. If you hear a driver say, "I make about $1000/week" that usually means he had a good week a few months ago where he made $1000, since then it may be $600-$800, but each short paycheck there is some excuse like the truck broke down or he missed an appointment and got set back a day, etc... Drivers usually say what they think they should make on a week with no problems. But most weeks have problems.

A very simple question gets all screwed up again. When someone says that they TAKE HOME x amount of dollars then that's net. Companies will always say gross when it comes to your pay. And that's because, just like everyone says, there's a lot of different deductions you can have.

This is what I assumed most drivers also did. I just wanted to ask to make sure.

I wasnt asking about deductions, it was just a question about NET vs GROSS and which one people reference when talking about pay. I am aware that people have a variety of different deductions, no 2 paychecks are ever alike. I was just using dollar amounts as examples.

I think I got my answer that most use NET.

It all depends on the context of the sentence. You said "take home". That is what you can deposit, which obviously is after taxes and others.

Cents per mile is gross. (always?)

Try this one, I am salaried. But only days that I work! Hahahahaa. If there are no loads on a weekday I still get paid. But if I take a sick day or personal day then there is no pay.

That's what I answered. Take home is net.

In my opinion it should be stated in gross. There are drivers at my terminal that may gross $100 less than me but take home $200 more because of deductions. I have none - never married no kids no house. I get around $1200 net for $1900 gross per week. Some here net that with $1600 gross..

It is a little better starting my third year. I will have two weeks paid vacation. I will use one for vacation and save the second week for personal days. Gross (to keep this on topic. hahahahaa)
