Here's the deal. My employer has a wall for drivers that get absolutely ridiculous tickets. I'm talking about stupid things that shouldn't get tou a ticket. He takes the ticket, scans it, blows it up, and frames it, and mounts it on the wall.

For example, I am on the wall twice. Once for illegal parking in New York. (I was sitting on the emergency lane of the interstate, for approximately 3 minutes, using my cell phone, to get directions into the receiver). Bam, "Illegal Parking, $250.00. fine, court costs, etc.

Second time for me was Banning, California. $279,50 for having a cigarette lit, as I crossed the scales. (Smoking in a workplace).

Is there anyone else that has received tickets like these?

Are you serious??? You did something to be safer, stopped to use your cell phone, and got a ticket for it????

I'll never understand why the USA is so anal about people stopping ON THE SHOULDER of the highway. It's not like that here anywhere. It's not like you were DRIVING in that lane or anything.

    Ridiculous, IMHO.

I called the judge in North Hudson, New York, regarding the ticket. I attempted to explain the reasoning for my stopping in the emergency lane. He informed me of the options regarding the ticket. One, make a trip to his court, bring $250.00. Two, obtain a lawyer, come to his court, bring $250.00. Three, get a $250.00 cashiers check, mail it to his court. He said, "Either way, you will pay the ticket. There's no wonder why you drive a truck, Your so stupid, that you don't know it's illegal in every state to stop in the emergency lane, unless you are having an emergency!"

that would make a great comedy act. that judge is one hell of a comedian. but he is right never-the -less. besides, the birds will eat in anyway, unless there's a gorillla lurking about.

I always throw organic waste into the woods. If it's biodegradable, it won't hurt a thing. Plastic needs to be disposed of properly in containers and it WILL do damage.

Chucking an apple core or banana peel into the woods doesn't hurt anyone or anything.

I remember a story a couple years ago where a driver was ticketed for "smoking", but he fought it and WON.
Technically, a semi-truck ISN'T a "workplace". It was some California Court that made that decision. I don't know the specifics, but I am sure that if you research it, you can find it.
