So I'm just curious if there is anything out there that would fit my needs. Here's the thing, I've just started driving OTR as my first CDL job. I've already figured that eventually I want to go local, but not for the next 2-3y. I love driving as a career, BUT I see that almost all local gigs squeeze every hour they can get out of you. I'm young, but I've already worked at a labor job pulling 65h/wk and it ain't for me, simply put. I don't need much money at all to survive off of, as I don't have anyone to support atm.
What I'm asking is, are there any common gigs that work you 40-50h/wk and give you 2d/wk off? And I mean 40-45 would be better, lol. Or is that not an option in this industry?
Thanks for the tips
which job is for me?

I work 40 to 45 hours a week and have 2 days off a week. But it's local

What type of gigs do you all have? (P&D, linehaul, tanker, etc)?
-
i worked for coca cola for 11.5 yrs and would work 40-60 hrs during the hot months and 40 hrs on the cold months. some warehouses work 4 10 hour days and some are 5 8 hour days.

Yes, those jobs are available. Get your tanker/hazmat then talk to Kenan. They do a lot stuff around Pensacola/Mobile & make great money.

My last job was local, at a scrap metal place. Drove everything they had though, box truck, roll-off, and t/t. Typical hours were 40-50 a week weekends off.

Most gas/fuel haulers work 12 hour shifts... Work 4 12's, and call it a week. You will be working weekends for a few years though I bet...

When i pull tank, i dont even work 6 hours and make decent money. I did it for a full week last month and barely made 45 hours and that was with 8 being holiday pay.

A lot of it depends on the company and the terminal you work out of but a lot of p&d drivers only work 40-50. That's always subject to change though.

Try to sign on as a linedriver. I typically run Tuesdays thru Saturdays and get my two days off. I average around 45 to 55 hours a week tops and still clear about $1k/week. All of my fellow linedrivers from surrounding terminals run a similar setup. Again, it depends on where you are out of, what company you go on board with, and how much freight they push. Good luck!!!
