Jackson, TN at the Walmart that has a no truck parking sign at the only entrance a truck can get into. 3 others were here before me so I'm hoping I'm good. Of greater concern is the fear that somebody is going to wake me up to move so they can get out. There's tons of room but they seem to be designing their new stores parking lots so trucks can not get get around in them.

It was a delightful day. I-40 in AR was much worse than usual. Came to a complete stop 3 times for at least 10 minutes each. I think I made 4 miles in almost 90 minutes.

Had a long day. Delivered to a landscaping business in Lenexa. I'm glad I didn't have a 53' trailer, I would not have been able to get into the place without taking out their fancy gates and a vehicle or two. I just love how these places will park personal and company vehicles in the path needed to enter and exit.

I was then dispatched to haul AIC Sand (Ice Control, or what we call Junk Sand), from Hartford to McPherson. This stuff is always wet, so I needed to juice my trailer down with anti-freeze, since the temp was not going to get near 32. So far no bad weather, but that changed once I hit Strong City. It deteriorated from there on to McPherson. It was fun trying to back the load to dump, getting stuck. Managed to get it done, but had to sweep out the trailer as some of that wet crap stuck. It was snowing so hard, visibility was down to about 1/4 mile.

Then I was sent to Hutchinson Salt to load for a landscaping company in KCMO. So I had to drive empty from McPherson. While en-route the fuse for my lift axle blew so it wouldn't stay up. At Hutch I replaced the fuse, and it blew immediately. Hutch Salt has a form that you fill out and sign. You complete your load info, and also check one of two boxes, stating that your trailer was cleaned out or washed out. Well I had swept mine out, but there was slimy mud film on the floor. Washed out? Really? It was below freezing outside. This salt was road-salt, so why does it have to be clean? Maybe they think the homeless people will scoop it up off the road, or break into the receiver's salt dome, and use it for table salt. Well I checked the cleaned box.

So I loaded and headed back. Didn't make it to KCMO, as I didn't have enough hours. I don't know if dispatch is unhappy about it, but too bad. I drove 45-50mph on the snowy roads, and wasn't going to drive any faster. At one point my wipers loaded up so fast they stopped clearing the windshield. I had 3 other big trucks on my butt, and I couldn't see crap. I told them on the CB to give me some slack and what was happening. Oh there's no shoulders to pull off on. At Caton, KS, I managed to get pulled off to where I could get the wipers clean.

Thankfully US-50 was in good shape from Hutch all the way back. The home base area didn't really get any snow or sleet, yet. I see why our dispatcher was trying to dispatch some of the loads. He wanted to send one driver into NE. That driver refused to do it, since the area already had a foot of snow. I think dispatch was just looking out his window and thought the whole world was the same.

Don't know if I'll be sent out in the morning, since the heavy snow is suppose to hit. It will probably take a little time to get my lift axle working again. By then the roads will probably be totally crap.

Oh another one of our drivers called me while I was dumping in McPherson. He went to NE yesterday (Tue), then loaded soybeans back to Emporia. He was given the option to go ahead and load again to go west (McPherson) or go home and wait to see what the weather does. This is one of the drivers that keeps saying how he loves the snow and ice because we get to haul salt. Yep you guessed it, he went home...

    Happy to be home!!!

First I'll have u no--while my logbook may b complex it has NO COMPLEX because it hold federally certified legal documents--which of course it takes very seriously!
Second it does NOT lie around it sits very politely in my drivers door pocket until it is called upon to sit neatly upon my lap as I certify the truth the whole truth and nothing but MY truth for the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT--who of course is here to help us!

Commerce Ga--2 down 5 to go--lets go play in Hot Lanta shall we:D:D

Hey ya'-all know it's snowing? Weatherman says 1-2" per hour around here. Went to bed around 2:30 with nothing happening, and now we have about 3" on the ground and a blizzard, and Thunder-snow. It doesn't happen that often, you get lighting and thunder with snow.

Called work and asked about taking the load to KCMO, dispatcher said no, couldn't see any reason to try to go up there and then try to get back empty. There is a God and he like me..:biggrin_25525: In fact he said he had to use his 4-WD to get into the office. It will mean a smaller paycheck next week, however I'll take that over the possibilities of driving in this stuff. When I first moved into the house I currently live in, it snowed like this. It took me and wife 14 hours to shovel out the drive. Since then we found someone we can hire to clear it.

Conditions went to heck in a handbasket around here. Eaton, I'm so thankful you didn't have to come up to KCMO.

2 of my drivers took a load from St Joe to KCMO. They left St Joe, it was doing nothing, they got to KC and everything was covered in white and very low visibility. The place we deliver said they were talking about closing early and not being there tomorrow.

1 driver called me to see if it was okay for him to go on home instead of getting stuck in St Joe at a truckstop all weekend. I told him to go home while he still could get there. The other driver lives in St Joe and called from KC telling me he didn't want to do another load in these conditions. I told him I didn't want him doing another and get his arse safely back to St Joe and stay planted.

When I got up (at 0600, not 0300), it was doing nothing. 2 hours later it started to flurry and within 20 minutes the ground is completely white and coming down hard. I'm waiting for the thunder snow to start. Lots of areas getting thunder snow and some places are getting 3" per hour with it.

I hope all of you are in a safe place, or someplace where it's warm and sunny with no precip any where near you.
