I went out to move my car at 1515 and it wasn't doing anything, 1540 drivers came in and said it was snowing. From work to Platte City, there were places it was like a blizzard, then at Platte City it all disappeared. So far, we've had nothing at St Joseph.

One of them fancy boxes that you get to see who's talking.. a radio with pictures..

I had an 8-track player or two in my time when I was a teenager. Finally upgraded to them new little cassette tapes, because my 8-track was always hungry. It kept eating my good tapes.

I had a record-player (what we called a phonograph), when I was about 7yrs old. Also got my first tape recorder, a reel-to-reel. You remember those Giggs?

Glad you parked it Pete. IIRC, you said you had to come up US-283? If so there's a section of it closed down in Kansas. There's several closed roads in SW KS. I did finally make it back home. Had to drive in near white-out conditions from McPherson to Lyons, then back and up to Salina. Once I hit Salina, no more snow. Dumped salt at KDOT in Topeka, then headed back to the yard. Ran into heavy snow just south of Topeka to Beto.

US-56 from the McPherson/Rice county line to Lyons was horrible. I was empty when I first crossed it, and if I went any faster than 15mph, my trailer would literally bounce from side to side. I thought I was going to end up in the ditch several times. After getting loaded, I was eastbound out of Lyons and some dipshot in a 4-wheeler was riding my mudflaps. That changed when he saw my trailer fishtail while bouncing.

Boss/owner has already instructed everyone that we will be working this Saturday. He also commented about how they have a loader at the yard to clear the snow away so we could get out, AND that we would need to make sure to shovel our driveways out so we can get back to work when called. I thought ok boss, it only takes me 14 hrs to shovel mine out. If he complains I'll just say you wanna buy me a tractor or skidsteer so I can get it shoveled out in less than an hour?

Problem with parking at the bottom, it drifts from the road clear up to my garage. I pull of the road into the driveway while it's drifted, and I'm too far. I don't live on a city street, where I can park along a curb. It's a paved county road, no shoulders, and ditches. I have a 4wd PU and still can not make it through the drifts, which will be around 4-5 ft.

I was wondering where all you might be out there today, Eaton. We were keeping a close eye on KS and saw there were several roads closing. I noticed the wind was whipping around pretty good on 435, but the closer I got to St Joe, the less there was, and right now, there doesn't seem to be any blowing.

The forecasters keep lowering the amount of snow we should be getting up here, but the KC areas are staying about the same as earlier predicted.

I volunteered to go in Saturday. The boss has been working at the office all the days us 2 gals don't make it in, so I told him I'd do it this time. When he came in the door this morning and saw both of us there, the first thing he said was, "have I told you both how very much I appreciate each of you?"
