Um, apparently, the unit works perfectly and a global food/freight company is running their units in Central Florida and will be making a press release soon announcing the collaboration. http://emeraldtechnologypartners.com/press-release-emerald-technology-partners-launch-wedway/

[h=1]The Insider: Cool Invention[/h]By Kyle Kennedy
THE LEDGER

Lakeland-based Emerald Technology Partners is about to bring its first product to market. Emerald developed the Wedway Refrigeration Power System, which uses kinetic energy to power refrigeration/freezer units on trailer trucks. The Wedway captures energy from the trailer's rotating wheels and works in place of a dedicated fuel system. Emerald officials say they plan to begin selling the device in early March.

With gear reduction you would be able to minimize the amount needed to run this unit or anything like it. 25 HP needed to run it doesnt mean 25HP of braking on one wheel...

This idea of kinetic energy transfer is nothing new.
Do a Google online US patent search and you will find patent filing that go as far back to the 60's 70's 80's.90's all the way up to 2010. Link is below. " wheel generator "

Similar concepts!
Ever wonder why this idea never got off the ground?Last edited: May 12, 2015

Ever wonder why they use magnetic brakes on roller coaster rides and not on trucks or cars?.
See Ferrari world Dubai. Youtube
This ride generates F1 equivalent G force and stops on a dime.
Yet every year thousands of truckers world wide loose their lives to brakes that fail because over heating.
See Google " Images brakes fail Truck Crashes Rockies"
Magnetic brakes made of Nb 55 (Niobium rare earth magnets)
can not over heat because there is no friction between the two braking components. (+ and - ) force fields
In fact these type of brakes WOULD LAST A 1000 years.
Would love to hear your comments especially from truck drivers that do mountain driving!

Physics 101: slowing a truck requires dissipating kinetic energy by converting that energy into another form, and either storing or rejecting the excess energy. Using a magnetic brake doesn't eliminate the need to deal with the heat generated, in fact the amount of heat to be rejected is determined by the weight and speed of the vehicle, and not by the type of retarder.
Btw, eddy current driveline retarders are out there, mainly in Europe. They work just fine, but are heavier than a Jake, as they are roughly 1lb/hp. They don't fade like a friction brake, but their power is limited by their ability to reject heat.
