@Rugerfan, I went with a fairly large company, however I will not name the company name until I am through with orientation, I may not post it online at all haha. Call me paranoid, but I try not to share too much online.

Thank you all for the well wishes!

Congrats. I actually graduated from Sage as well in Billings. Used their old Freightliner . Funny thing is, I just moved away from Great Falls last year in June. I was stationed at Malmstrom

It varies depending on which course you take. If you are just starting out, it is a 150 hour course. In my personal case, it took about a month, as I was scheduled with several half days, as well as some full ones. I enjoyed it, I had a good experience with it. it wasn't terribly challenging, because every time I had a question, they were on the spot to answer it. And all of the driving is on a one-to-one student to instructor ratio, so they can identify areas you need work on, and address it immediately.

Thanks. I just figured you went and got your CDL, I suppose there are multiple endorsements they probably train for as well. I am actually pretty excited to get started, I hope nothing gets in the way.

It is a PTDI accreddited school, so they have a set course program. You will go through Safety, the basics, CDL, Tanker, Doubles/Triples, Combination, Air Brakes, etc and then of course maintenance, rules for Canada, Mexico, brake adjustment, backing, and about 40 other study topics. With range driving (Backing/Serpentine/Paralell Park/etc.) and street sessions. Educationally it is not challenging at all, I swear it was taught at a 3rd grade level, but it gets you started, teaches the basics, and when you leave, you are confident that you will get hired. I had my choice of all of the starter companies, some local companies, and picked what suits me the best.

That helps a lot, thanks for sharing. I am going next week to Sage for a mini orientation and hopefully can find out what else I need to know before deciding.

Good deal. Are you by any chance going to the mini oreintation set up by Sage Missoula? If so, you will have a great time. What I like the most about them is the support even after you graduate. I literally sat down with the director, and asked him a million questions about the orientation I am off to this weekend. It's so reassuring to have a cadre that actually gives a crap about you even when you are done, and gives you honest no B.S. answers, where as a company recruiter will try to hide all of the negatives about a certain company.

I live in Denver CO and am going to the Sage mini orientation they do weekly. The lady said she goes over all the questions and what to expect. Then there is a recruiter event the following Tuesday which I am going to attend just to get a feel of what offers are out there.
