I rolled in 20:00
9 delivery tickets and I managed to take a nice heavy load away from Inner Loop for my last one!
No hint of snow or ice around here. But it was a little cool in the shade with the wind blowing this morning.... -
I'm glad I didn't try to dlver that load last Monday in Grand Forks, ND. Folks at shipper didn't go to work, visibility was so bad in that area that snow plows went home...
So, I delivered the load on Tuesday and was reloaded at another place about 10 mins from there. Everything went fine. Now at a new service plaza on I-80/90 in OH. Going to Cleveland for delivery and then further northeast OH for another p/up and then heading to NC.
Thank you folks, for your encouragement....
It was 10F last night in MN. Called breakdown to get their opinion, should I idle or not and was advised to idle...
so I did and this morning sent a msg to my dispatcher saying why I had done it. He got in touch with breakdown supervisor who told him 10F will not hurt the batteries and he will instruct their reps at brkdown dept on what their trucks can withstand. I am going to send email to the breakdown supervisor... Need some explanation here.... What about that time, during the winter in New London, WI... temp was in the teens, I fell asleep for a few hrs at night and woke up with truck totally frozen up? No lights, engine wouldn't start.... It was midnite, I had to p/up a load but instead, had to call breakdown to send roadside assistance right away
And there was at least one other time, temp in the teens, I did not idle for a day or two and then couldn't start engine in the morning... Good thing I was at a TA parked right in front of their shop... Well... I did it on purpose...
to prove to company that if we don't idle under those temps, company will have to pay for jump start... But I guess I will need to do it again...
